Dear Franklin Sherman ES Parents/Guardians,
Can you believe it? The end of the school year is just around the corner, with our last day of classes on June 11th (two hour early release)! It's been an incredible year, and we're so grateful for all the memories we've made together.
As we count down these final days, there's still plenty of excitement in store! Our talented musicians will be showcasing their hard work at the upcoming Band and Strings Concert tonight. We're also looking forward to a day of fun and friendly competition at Field Day, and our students will celebrate their achievements with their classmates at the much-anticipated Class Parties.
This year has truly highlighted the strength of our school community. Your enthusiasm and participation in every event have made a significant impact. We are so thankful for your partnership in making this a truly special and successful year for our students.
Let's make these last few weeks the best yet!
Sincerely,
Farris Thomas Principal Franklin Sherman ES

FCPS School Calendar
Today, the students are enjoying the spring performances of our Franklin Sherman Band, Chorus, and Strings ensembles.
In order to plan for another year of musical excellence and to help us build our instructional schedules, we ask that all parents of next years 4th, 5th, and 6th graders respond to the brief survey distributed today to parent email addresses via eNotify. The survey will express tentative interest in band and strings enrollment for the 2025-26 school year. Students and families will have the opportunity to finalize their choice of ensemble and instrument upon return to school but this preliminary information is critical for our planning.
Please respond by June 11.

In recognition of National Food Allergy Awareness Month, the Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) wants to emphasize that it has implemented a standardized process for dietary accommodations. This ensures that FCPS students receive safe and healthy food.
The Dietary Accommodations information provides step-by-step guidance for families to follow to ensure safe and appropriate food is provided to their student(s). This guidance includes needing a Medical Dietary Accommodation Form to be signed by a Licensed Health Care Provider and forwarded to FNS.
For students who need a milk substitute, the Milk Substitution Form signed by a Parent/Guardian must also be on file with FNS.
Forms are to be emailed to dietary.forms.fns@fcps.edu by parents/guardians. FNS Registered Dietitians on staff will then contact the family to begin planning safe meals for their student and place an alert on the student’s file at the register.

Franklin Sherman reminds families that Attendance Matters. As the year is coming to a close, we appreciate you helping encourage strong student attendance through the very last day! Every day counts and student attendance is a factor in determining our annual accreditation. You can check your student's current absenteeism rate on ParentVue.
We know students get sick and appreciate you keeping them home when they are not well. We are addressing absences that are not due to student illness in our reminders.

Ms. Clausen’s class planted a pumpkin plant they grew in their classroom! It is now among the pumpkin plants and seeds Ms. Michalski’s class planted a couple of weeks ago.
If you happen to come by our school this summer, check the green raised beds by the Art Room. There are six of them. Classes and Green Scene planted Chives, Cilantro, Parsley, Radishes, and Carrots. Also, Beans, Peas, and Bell Peppers may be ready this summer in the edible garden beds in our garden. If you see an abundance of these in them, feel free to snip off, harvest, and take home for cooking!
Please join us in the garden this Friday for our last group watering, weeding, and sprucing up! We won’t meet up again until fall. Email Ms.Eaton, Art Teacher, at lreaton@fcps.edu if you plan to attend. Parents must accompany their children. We would love to have you and appreciate all the help we have gotten so far!
This Tuesday morning is also our last Green Scene meeting for the year. We meet at 8:15am in the Library. Students need a permission slip, just email Ms. Eaton, Mrs. Essimi rmessimimen@fcps.edu, or Ms. Michalski rlmichalski@fcps.edu.

Student Test Results
Throughout May and June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, there is a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.
How the results are delivered depends on the test. Scores will be delivered in SIS ParentVUE or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines.
Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families. Individual test websites provide report translations and help for interpreting test results. Please contact us with any testing questions or for additional information about how we use test results to support student success.
Support Your Child’s Success in SIS ParentVUE Signing up for a SIS ParentVUE account helps you to support your child’s academic success! Caregivers can view important information like attendance, grades, progress reports, and assessment scores through ParentVUE.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. A SIS ParentVUE app is available for Apple and Android devices.
Need help creating a SIS ParentVue account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.
If you already have an account, be sure your contact information is up-to-date. Parents/guardians can update their phone numbers or email addresses in the Parent/Guardian section. Find more information and an FAQ online.
