Living History Museum

Dear Poplar Tree Families,

What a busy week we've had!

  • On Wednesday. Grades K-2 had a visit from author Patricia Tanumihardja, whose books serve up heartwarming stories and delicious cultural flavor. Thanks to our PTA and Ms. Riddile for making these author visits possible!
  • On Thursday morning, some of our 6th graders participated in the Living History Museum where they dressed up like someone from history and shared what they had learned about them. This week's video linked below interviews one of those famous people from history!
  • Thursday afternoon at our SCA celebration, SCA Officers along with Ms. Grieco and Mr. Cogan were pied in the face for an SCA Fundraiser! Check out the fun video on Facebook HERE!
  • And today, we've had a very fun Field Day thanks to all the hard work from Ms. Loudin, Ms. Rosenfeld, and Ms. Birge - along with all of the volunteers!

It's hard to believe there's only 8 days of school left. We look forward to lots of fun End of Year celebrations next week and making the most of our last days of the 2024-2025 school year!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Health Room Medications

💊End of Year Medication Pickup💉

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than 1:30 pm on Wednesday, June 11, the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. Medication cannot be sent home with students. Thank you!

Career and College days

🏫 PTES College and Career Celebration Dress Up Days!

The 6th grade is planning a fun Career and College Celebration for the whole school during the week of June 2. We will have two dress up days:

  • Monday, June 2: Wear an outfit that represents what you would like to be when you grow up!
  • Tuesday, June 3: Wear college gear or college colors!

Please remember all career outfits must be school appropriate. Thank you!

Library Books

📚Library books are due back by Friday, May 30

Please return all books to the Poplar Tree Library by Friday, May 30 to avoid a lost book fine. Payment for lost books can be made using My School Bucks between May 30-June 11 but a hard-cover replacement is always preferred. Check your email for a list of books your student currently has checked out.

Yearbooks

📔Order your yearbook today!

Cherish the memories from this year. Yearbooks will be distributed the first week in June. Don't miss out on a guaranteed copy for your student and order before the distribution date. If you are unsure whether you already ordered a yearbook, email Mrs. Riddile to check. To order, visit http://jostens.com and type Poplar Tree in the Find Your School box.

Delloitte

🤝 Deloitte's Impact Day🤝

Poplar Tree Elementary School will be hosting a group of volunteers from Deloitte’s Impact Day on Friday, June 6th. The team, led by PTES parents Jason Richards (2nd Grade) and Jillian Ramlogan (2nd Grade), will help teachers pack up their classrooms and finish end of year tasks, create a new sensory walk outside of the school, and perform beautification to the exterior of the school. Volunteers will be wearing Deloitte-branded attire and will not interfere with the 6th Grade Promotion Celebration occurring that morning.

If you are a PTES family member who works at Deloitte, you can sign up on the internal Deloitte Impact Day page beginning Monday, 5 May. If you have additional questions, please contact Jason Richards (richa2jm@gmail.com) and Jillian Ramlogan (j@ramlogan.me).

We are looking forward to welcoming back all our PTES alumni on Monday, June 9 for our annual grad walk! Students should arrive in the front for photos by 9:45. The walk will begin at 10:00.
