Wolf Pack Words

Wolf Pack,

As the 2024-2025 school year draws to a close, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to every member of the Wolf Pack!

It's been a year of incredible growth and learning, and our students, staff, and families have been busy celebrating all their accomplishments. When you've visited the school, you've surely witnessed how much our students have developed their Portrait of a Graduate attributes—and they have the skills to prove it!

Let's make this last week of learning a great one!

Cali Loewenberg, Assistant Principal

Money Camp!

Through this interdisciplinary experience, students get jobs, pay taxes, and become entrepreneurs by designing, creating, and selling a product in our market. The kids run the show, while learning about economic principles in a real life setting. Financial literacy, budgeting, marketing, creativity, and problem solving are integrated into a fun-filled week that culminates with a market day! Three sessions are offered.

Instructors over the 3 weeks will be Mrs. O'Malley, Mrs. Lahr, and Mrs. Klopfenstein.  Cost is $315 per session.  Open to rising 4th-7th graders.

Session 1:  July 7-11, 8:30-3:30
Session 2:  July 14-18, 8:30-3:30
Session 3:  July 21-25, 8:30-3:30

If you have questions about the camp, please email Mrs. O'Malley at jmomalley@fcps.edu.

🥗 Don’t Forget to Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance!

As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to remember to check your students’ MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.

Families that earn less than 185% of poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals. However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2025-26 school year will be available this summer.

If families have a current balance and think they may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2024-25 school year. Get more information about free and reduced-price meals.

Dietary Accommodations for Students

In recognition of National Food Allergy Awareness Month, the Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) wants to emphasize that it has implemented a standardized process for dietary accommodations. This ensures that FCPS students receive safe and healthy food. The Dietary Accommodations information provides step-by-step guidance for families to follow to ensure safe and appropriate food is provided to their student(s). This guidance includes needing a Medical Dietary Accommodation Form to be signed by a Licensed Health Care Provider and forwarded to FNS. For students who need a milk substitute, the Milk Substitution Form signed by a Parent/Guardian must also be on file with FNS.

Forms are to be emailed to dietary.forms.fns@fcps.edu by parents/guardians. FNS Registered Dietitians on staff will then contact the family to begin planning safe meals for their student and place an alert on the student’s file at the register.

 Community Boundary Review Meetings

The Boundary Explorer Tool is now live. We encourage you to enter your address in the tool and find out how the proposed draft scenarios might affect your school or neighborhood. Watch this video to learn more about using the boundary tool.

You are also invited to participate in another series of community meetings in order to review and reflect on the initial draft scenarios before the start of summer break:

Each meeting will be hybrid, meaning that you may attend in person or via Zoom. Childcare for in-person participants and language interpretation/translation for all participants will be available as needed.

If you register to attend virtually, you will receive a Zoom link within 24 business hours. The email will come from “no-reply@zoom.us.” Check your spam folder if you do not receive the link.

Another round of community meetings will be held in the fall.

Visit FCPS’ Comprehensive Boundary Review page for more information.

Get Clued in to the FCPS and Safe Routes to School Puzzle Hunt!

FCPS and Safe Routes to School return with an engaging activity to help get families outside this summer. The Fairfax County Puzzle Hunt, which begins Sunday, June 1, will offer online puzzles that lead to a location in Fairfax County and additional clues toward the final puzzle.

Participants who submit the final answer will be entered into a chance to win a prize. Puzzles are filled with creative thinking, logic, and wordplay. They are designed to be challenging and accessible for all skill levels, as well as teaching about bicycle and pedestrian safety.

Plan ahead and think creatively: Last year, some folks created solving teams and scheduled meet-ups to solve together. How will you participate? For more information, visit the hunt’s How to Play page.

Registration For FCPS Summer Camps Closes Soon

Registration closes Friday, June 6 for summer camps and learning opportunities offered by Fairfax County Public Schools for all students.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) camps and Institute for the Arts (IFTA) camps will be held in July at Lake Braddock Secondary School from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bus transportation will be available from select FCPS middle and high schools.

CTE Summer Academy (CSA) is a week-long enrichment program that allows students in grades 6-11 to dive deeper into CTE program areas, develop skills, and begin career exploration. IFTA is a two- or three-week summer enrichment program for students currently in grades 6-11. Students select from nearly 90 classes in art, dance, health and physical education 9 (which fulfills a graduation requirement), music, and theater. E-IFTA is a weekly arts camp for students in grades 2-5 who love to sing, dance, act, perform, make, and create.
