Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found final pick up is June 5th.  All items left will be donated on June 6th.  Please help us by encouraging your child to stop by and retrieve their belongings.

Medication Pick Up

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program.

Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services. A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over the counter, to be kept at school.  For all asthma medications, a Virginia Asthma Action Plan must be provided. If you have any questions, please contact your school health room at 703-690-5110.

Thank you for your cooperation and have a good summer.

Field Day

What is field day?

Field day is a tradition where students will move with their classroom and participate in various stations during a specific time frame during school hours.

Here at Silverbrook, students will participate in games/activities they have done throughout this school during their Physical Education class.  We encourage students to demonstrate good sportsmanship, cooperation and to have fun.

How to prepare for field day?

  • Bring your OWN water bottle to school this day.
  • Dress appropriately:
  • Athletic shoes (NO Crocs, NO sandals)
  • Outdoor clothing (it could be very warm)
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses

Something to think about...

  • Hydrate the night before (especially if it will be a hot day).
  • Apply sunscreen in the morning.
  • Have your parent put it on for you before you leave for school.
  • There will be a water station, please wear clothing you don’t mind getting wet.

Thursday, June 5th - 9:20-11:40am Grades 4-5-6

Thursday, June 5th - 1:00-2:30pm Grades 2-3

Friday, June 6th - 12:30-2:20pm Grades K-1-APE

What happens if it rains?

We do have a plan B!  If there is inclement weather, field day will be moved indoors.  It will take place during their specials time slot.  Rain or shine, field day will occur on their scheduled day.

School Board Unanimously Adopts the FCPS 2025-26 Budget

The Fairfax County School Board unanimously adopted the FCPS Fiscal Year 2025-26 Approved Budget. Facing years of chronic underfunding, the final budget required $121 million in reductions to the needs-based budget that was carefully developed with the FCPS community’s high expectations in mind. While these cuts and reductions will impact our classes, the school division will continue to do what is necessary to provide a world-class education for every student. Read more about the budget in this news release
