Bathroom Behavior

Dear Poplar Tree Families,

I am writing to you today to ask for your partnership in addressing a growing concern regarding student behavior in our group bathrooms.

Recently, we have experienced an increase in incidents of intentional misuse of our bathroom facilities. Specifically, some students have been stuffing paper towels into sinks and toilets, causing them to overflow and clog and back up. There have also been instances of large amounts of wet paper towels being thrown onto walls and ceilings.

This behavior is creating several significant problems. First and foremost, it creates an unsanitary and potentially unsafe environment for all students. Secondly, these incidents are proving to be quite costly, requiring frequent maintenance and repairs.

We are actively addressing these issues at school through discussions with students about respectful behavior, responsibility, and the proper use of school facilities.

We kindly request that you speak with your child(ren) about the importance of using the school bathrooms appropriately and respectfully. Please emphasize that:

  • Paper towels belong in the trash cans.
  • Toilets are for waste only and should not be used for disposing of paper towels or other objects.
  • Keeping our bathrooms clean and safe is everyone's responsibility.

We understand that children are still learning, and we want to work together to ensure a positive and safe environment for all. Your partnership in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support.
