The 8th Annual Global Classroom Project Showcase
On March 26th, Woodson High School proudly hosted the 8th annual Global Classroom Project Showcase. The Global Classroom Project (GCP) team organized this event, which featured approximately 50 unique projects shared by both teachers and students.
Each presentation highlighted how students involved in the Global Classroom Project (GCP) explored various important topics, such as:
-
Diverse cultures and traditions from around the world.
-
Global issues impacting communities worldwide.
-
Actions they took with their partner classes to help achieve one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
In addition, over 100 student fellows from the Global Leaders of Fairfax County program joined the GCP participants. They shared their innovative ideas for creating a positive impact in our local community, focusing on each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Students, teachers, school leaders, families, and community members all enjoyed learning about the students' creative solutions to real-world problems.
To share the story of the project, students from Mountain View High School, led by their teacher Ms. Latoya Prescod-Williams, created a documentary The Story of the Global Classroom Project. The audience also enjoyed an amazing performance by the 8th-grade Advanced Theater Arts students, directed by Ms. Stacey Jones.
