End-of-Year Special Events Begin!
There are only about two weeks left in the school year, and the end-of-year special events and celebrations have started! Last week brought us two.
On Thursday, the 5th and 6th Grade Chorus performed their Spring Concert for students during the day and for parents and families in the evening, under the direction of music teachers Mr. Crouch and Ms. McCormick. The program included an array of fun musical styles, including songs from the Beatles and a popular movie. Students were spotlighted as speakers and soloists throughout the concert. All songs showed off the talents of our young singers.

This year's All-County Choral Festival singers performed a song from their countywide concert in March.

The T-shirts worn by the Chorus members for the evening performance were designed by a 6th grade student. The sunny yellow shirts added even more brightness and light to the event.

On Friday, we ended the week on a high note with a special sporting event designed for students of all abilities. The Lane Little Feet Meet was held in place of the countywide Special Olympics event, which was rained out in April. The Little Feet Meet is a unique sporting event that engages students with and without intellectual and physical disabilities to share fun and fitness. There was definitely a lot of fun for everyone — together!

End-of-Year Schoolwide Events and Engagement Survey – We Want to Hear from You!
It's hard to believe the 2024-2025 school year is nearly over! We've accomplished so much this year, and we really enjoyed the time we got to spend learning and celebrating together. As we start planning for the upcoming year, we want to make sure that we are offering families the opportunities they enjoy and need to build connections and community.
We offered A LOT of opportunities this year, and we'd love to have your feedback. Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey about this year's events and other opportunities sponsored by both the school and the PTA. And, please, give us ideas and suggestions for future opportunities. Thank you!

All Library Books Are Due TOMORROW — Wednesday, May 28! |
Don't forget that all student library materials are due TOMORROW —Wednesday, May 28 — by the end of the school day. Please do your best to get them in by this date!
Electronic notices to help remind students of ALL of their checked-out library materials (not just overdue items) will be emailed weekly through the end of the school year.
As always, the library does not have fees for overdue books; however, families are expected to pay the replacement cost for books that are lost or returned damaged.
Thank you for supporting the library! Contact Mrs. Chozick, Librarian, at schozick@fcps.edu with questions.
Limited Early Release Days Continue Next Year
During a report to the School Board this month, FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid announced plans to continue limited early release days in elementary schools and shift them to Wednesdays for the 2025-26 school year. This plan is based on recommendations from the Early Release Steering Committee. The committee includes parents, caregivers, school-based staff, and central office personnel. Read more about the reasons for early release and the proposed early release dates.
Don’t Forget to Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance!
As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to remember to check your students’ MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Families that earn less than 185% of poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals. However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2025-26 school year will be available this summer.
If families have a current balance and think they may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2024-25 school year. Get more information about free and reduced-price meals.

Student Testing Results Coming Soon
Throughout May and June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, there is a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.
How the results are delivered depends on the test. Scores will be delivered in SIS ParentVUE or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines.
Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families. Individual test websites provide report translations and help for interpreting test results. Please contact us with any testing questions or for additional information about how we use test results to support student success.
Support Your Child’s Success in SIS ParentVUE
Signing up for a SIS ParentVUE account helps you to support your child’s academic success. Caregivers can view important information like attendance, grades, progress reports, and assessment scores through ParentVUE.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. A SIS ParentVUE app is available for Apple and Android devices.
Need help creating a SIS ParentVUE account? This video explains the steps. Find out more. To create a new account, please contact Jami O’Hagan, Lane registrar, at jjohagan@fcps.edu or Melanie Crosby Hardy, our family liaison, for an activation letter.
If you already have an account, be sure your contact information is up-to-date. Parents/guardians can update their phone numbers or email addresses in the Parent/Guardian section. View more information.
