Dear Olde Creek Community,
As we head into the long Memorial Day weekend, we want to take a moment to thank all of our amazing families for your continued support throughout the school year. Just a reminder—there will be no school on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. We hope you enjoy the extra time to relax and recharge with your loved ones!
With only a few weeks left before our last day of school on Wednesday, June 11 (1:15 release time), we’re entering a fun and festive final stretch. There’s so much to look forward to—concerts, Field Day, the Talent Show, and more! The warm weather is here, and it’s a great time to celebrate all the hard work and achievements of our students.
Please be sure to check your email regularly for important updates—you won’t want to miss any of the upcoming events.
Let’s finish the year strong, together. We truly appreciate all you do to support your child and our school community.
Wishing you a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!
Sincerely,
Courtney Korb, Principal Matt Elkins, Assistant Principal Stephanie Kaminsky, Assistant Principal

Register for Band and Strings Grades 4-6
We're excited to announce that registration is now open for students who are interested in joining the band or strings program at Olde Creek ES next year. This is a wonderful opportunity for our rising 4th-6th graders to explore their musical talents and be a part of something special.
The registration form linked below provides all the details about the different options available. We want to ensure that every student has the chance to participate in a way that best suits them. During the next few weeks of school, students will have the opportunity to learn and listen to other FCPS musicians to help students learn more about the programs offered.
Please take a moment to review the information with your child and fill out the form if they'd like to be a part of this enriching experience. If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help in any way we can.
Please register HERE (see below for QR code). Registration will close on June 7th. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity for your child to learn a musical instrument!
Thank you for your support, and we can't wait to see our students shine in the band and strings program next year!
Sincerely,
Steve Lovecchio Kate Easton

Limited Early Release Days Continue Next Year
During a report to the School Board this month, FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid announced plans to continue limited early release days in elementary schools and shift them to Wednesdays for the 2025-26 school year. This plan is based on recommendations from the Early Release Steering Committee. The committee includes parents, caregivers, school-based staff, and central office personnel. Read more about the reasons for early release and the proposed early release dates.
Student Testing Results Coming Soon
Throughout May and June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results.
How the results are delivered depends on the test. Scores will be delivered in SIS ParentVUE or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines.
Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families. Please contact us with any testing questions or for additional information about how we use test results to support student success.
Don't Forget to Check Your Student's Lunch Balance!
- As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to remember to check your students’ MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Families that earn less than 185% of poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals. However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2025-26 school year will be available this summer.
If families have a current balance and think they may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2024-25 school year. Get more information about free and reduced-price meals.
