A Message from Ms. Consolla
Beginning next school year, we will be expanding the ways that parents can volunteer here at Fort Hunt. I'd like to extend an invitation for parents to join me in working group to develop expectations and parameters for what volunteering at Fort Hunt looks like. I would like to start on Monday, June 16 and then set any follow-up dates with the group. If you're interested, please let me know through this quick form.
School will be closed on Monday for Memorial Day. Best wishes for safe and relaxing long weekend for your family. We will see everyone back at Fort Hunt on Tuesday, May 27 at 8:30am.
As always, thank you for your partnership with us in your child's education at Fort Hunt.

Medication Pick-up
The last day of school is around the corner. Please plan accordingly to pick up your student’s medications! All medication must be collected by the parent/guardian no later than 1:30pm on Wednesday June 11, 2025. Any medications left in the health room after that time will be destroyed.
If your student is enrolled in an FCPS sponsored summer program, the existing medication authorization forms may be used for those programs. Note that it is parent/guardian's responsibility to pick up the paperwork/med and transport to summer site.
If you have any questions, please contact our Public Health Nurse Ms. Nikki Somerville at nsomerville@fcps.edu or call the Fort Hunt office at 703-619-2600.

Sixth Graders: We Have Required Immunizations for You!
As required by the Code of Virginia, parents or legal guardians need to provide proof of immunizations for their child to attend public school. All students entering seventh grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations:
- Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap) given at age 7 or older.
- Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) given at age 10 or older.
- A complete series of 2 doses of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- After reviewing educational materials approved by the Board of Health, the parent or guardian, at the parents/guardians sole discretion, may elect for the child not to receive the HPV vaccine.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to plan ahead by scheduling an appointment with their child’s health care provider now to avoid the rush this summer. If your child does not have a health care provider, please visit the FCPS Immunizations Resource page to find out where to get an immunization.
Please review the Virginia Department of Health Information Packet for more information on rising 7th grade immunization requirements.

No Cell Phone/Smart Watches Policy
Just a reminder that students may not use their cell phones / smart watches during school hours. Devices should either be in "airplane" mode or turned off during the hours of 8:55 a.m. and 3:40 p.m. Students should not be texting their parents and/or friends during the school day. We ask that parents also not text or call their child during the school day.
In case of illness, students need to be seen in the health room and the health room aide or public health nurse will call you if your child needs to be taken home. Students may not contact parents through their personal cell phones/smart watches to be picked up.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact the main office at 703-619-2600 who will send your message to your child.
Review FCPS policy by grade level here.
