In FCPS, we all belong. From the first day of school, to the last day of school, every child matters. If your student is having a hard time finishing the year strong and attending school, please contact a trusted adult at our school — a teacher, counselor, or administrator. Visit FCPS’ website for more attendance resources.
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Woodley Hills will host a Mental Health Awareness Spirit Week. Please see below!
The Librarians from Sherwood Regional Library visited Woodley Hills on May 28th. Students learned all about the Summer Reading Challenge sponsored by the Fairfax County Public Library. Starting June 11th, students can earn prizes for reading and completing a simple form. Find out more information at the Summer Reading Challenge page on the FCPL website. Happy Reading!

We are excited to share that a soccer mini pitch was installed on a portion of our blacktop! The new mini pitch is an all-weather playing surface that is accessible to all our students, including those in wheelchairs. This will enhance our physical education classes, our after school program, and provide additional opportunities for students during recess. It is also open in the evenings for the community to enjoy!
We are extremely thankful to Gunston Soccer Club for introducing us to the US Soccer Club. Gunston Soccer has partnered with us to offer an after school soccer club for three years and without them this would not have been possible. This install is part of the D.C. Soccer Initiative. Woodley Hills is mini-pitch #20 of the initiative, which started in 2021. We would also like to thank the U.S. Soccer Foundation, A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation, the Major League Soccer team D.C. United, and the National Women’s Soccer League team Washington Spirit for their very generous donations as well as of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) for their support.
We are grateful to have the mini pitch installed. It has provided and additional space for ALL our students and community members to appreciate one another no matter their ability level.
Over the next couple of weeks, a professional artist will be working with some of our students to complete a mural on the pitch. Although the students have begun to enjoy the pitch, we will have and official opening on June 9th, more details to follow.
All library books are due back No Later Than Friday, May 30th. Overdue notices were sent home. Please take time to find any missing books and return them as soon as possible. If you cannot find the books, please send in the payment so we can replace the book for the students to read next year. 😊
The Variety Show is BACK!!! Students can sign up to “audition” for the show up until Tuesday, June 4th. Some students have already began auditioning, but any other students who are interested in performing need to see Teacher Diez and showcase their acts. The talent should be under 2 minutes and appropriate for all ages. Unfortunately, we may not be able to have every act participate because of the limited amount of time. Acts selected will be notified by Teacher Diez and/or Ms. Lasisi. There may be a special surprise performance at the end! We will have some space available and will stream the show for those who cannot attend.
You are invited to join us for a celebration of global cultures at our annual International Festival Night on June 6, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the blacktop and playground in the rear of the school building. It will be an evening filled with student performances dancing, music, and food from around the world. We are excited to share the experience of this special night of unity and cultural appreciation with you!

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, May 29, 6:30-8 p.m. at Whitman Middle School.

During a report to the School Board this month, FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid announced plans to continue limited early release days in elementary schools and shift them to Wednesdays for the 2025-26 school year. This plan is based on recommendations from the Early Release Steering Committee. The committee includes parents, caregivers, school-based staff, and central office personnel. Read more about the reasons for early release and the proposed early release dates.
Throughout May and June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, there is a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.
How the results are delivered depends on the test. Scores will be delivered in SIS ParentVUE or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines.
Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families. Individual test websites provide report translations and help for interpreting test results. Please contact us with any testing questions or for additional information about how we use test results to support student success.
Support Your Child’s Success in SIS ParentVUE Signing up for a SIS ParentVUE account helps you to support your child’s academic success! Caregivers can view important information like attendance, grades, progress reports, and assessment scores through ParentVUE.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. A SIS ParentVUE app is available for Apple and Android devices.
Need help creating a SIS ParentVue account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.
If you already have an account, be sure your contact information is up-to-date. Parents/guardians can update their phone numbers or email addresses in the Parent/Guardian section. Find more information and an FAQ online.
