Dear Navy Families and Caregivers,

We have a fabulous week of fun in the sun on Friday, May 23rd. Field day will start at approximately 9:30am and last through 11:30 am. We are excited for the students and look forward to creating lasting memories.

Mr. Sydney and Tobin are going above and beyond to make Friday’s field day the very best experience for all students.

Next, our Dolphins performed well on their 2025 Standards of Learning Assessments. The scores out paced those of FCPS and are as follows:

Navy Math: 93%   |  FCPS 75%

Navy Reading: 94%   |  FCPS 76%

Navy Science: 96%   |  FCPS  69%

These percentages are based on raw numbers. The above scores are preliminary as we also had some students qualify for retakes. Which means they can only go up after retakes are complete. Our students are fabulous in so many ways, and I would like to thank you for your support in being your child’s first teacher!

I was excited to attend the 5th and 6th grade dance to see our students have a tremendous amount of fun eating pizza, dancing with their friends and most importantly smiling! I want to thank our wonderful mom’s for going above and beyond the call of duty to make this event happen for our kiddos! Thank you!

As always, I look forward to seeing you around the school this week!

Sincerely,

Jason

📚💙Student-Led Book Drive!💙📚

Shout out to two amazing 6th graders, Izzy and Emma, who took the initiative to start a summer book drive—all on their own! Their goal? To help everyone keep reading this summer 📖☀️

Here's how it works:
➡️ Bring in a few age appropriate books you're finished with.
➡️ Once books are organized, pick out a "new-to-you" book to enjoy over the summer.
📦 Any leftover books will be donated to a school in need!

Books can be dropped off in the lobby all week or placed in the book bin just outside the main entrance.

We are SO proud of Izzy and Emma for leading with heart and purpose—they are shining examples of what it means to be an Ethical and Global Citizen, helping their community. 🌍💫

Laptop Collection is Coming Soon!

"Laptop Collection" with an image of a laptop and charger

As we approach the end of the school year, it’s almost time to collect student laptops. This is a big task, and your help can make the process much smoother for Mr. Kelly and Mrs. McLaughlin!

Here’s how you can help:

  • Please make sure your child’s laptop is clean and free of stickers (barcode labels should stay on).
  • Name cards should be in the plastic sleeve on the laptop.
    • If the name card is missing, you can write your child’s name, student ID, and grade level on a piece of paper or sticky note and place it in the sleeve or tape it on.

Laptop Collection Schedule:

  • Tuesday, June 3: Grades 1 & 2
  • Wednesday, June 4: Grades 3 & 5
  • Thursday, June 5: Grade 6
  • Friday, June 6: Grade 4 & EAC

Thank you for your support in helping us wrap up the year smoothly!

💪Let's Finish the School Year Strong!

Student attendance at school is important all year long, up to the last day of school. Attendance has an effect on student performance and on school accreditation. See how to:

  • Check your child’s attendance record.
  • Help your student stay engaged at school.
  • Report future absences.
  • Understand the FCPS school calendar.

Learn more about attendance resources.

Phase 2 Community Boundary Review Meetings

Families, staff, and community members can explore and visualize potential boundary scenarios using a customized Boundary Explorer Tool. The tool will be accessible from the FCPS website. You are also invited to participate in another series of community meetings in order to review and reflect on the initial draft scenarios before the start of summer break:

Each meeting will be hybrid, meaning that you may attend in person or via Zoom. Childcare for in-person participants and language interpretation/translation for all participants will be available as needed. Registration links will be shared soon. Another round of community meetings will be held in the fall.

Visit FCPS’ Comprehensive Boundary Review page for more information.
