We have something special this week, in the form of an SVTV Weekly Report, created by our 6th Graders and Mr. Stewart. You can expect a similar report and segment from our 6th graders on a weekly basis.
All library books are due May 28! You may pay for lost books, by going to MySchoolBucks>Categories>Library Fines-Lost/Damaged Books. Please contact alleonard@fcps.edu  if you have any questions. Thanks in advance for tracking down wayward books!
6th Grade Parents- The Langston Hughes Library has compiled a great list of books for summer reading. Students who read three or more books- at least one from this list- can come to a dessert party and have a chance to win prizes! The library will feature one of these books each month for a BOOKS & BITES chat-with SNACKS!- starting in September.Â
Please be mindful that if your child has medication in the clinic, it must be picked up by a parent or guardian no later than the last day of school. For safety reasons, medication cannot be sent home with students. Any medication remaining after the last day of school will be discarded.
Questions? Reach out to our School Health Nurse, Lori Jreige
Is your student missing a jacket, sweatshirt, or those must-have water bottles? Stop by the lost and found in the cafeteria to claim any missing items.
Please note: All unclaimed items will be donated to a local shelter after the last day of school.
As the school year wraps up, families can expect to access spring assessment score reports through SIS ParentVUE under the Documents section, according to the timelines below:
-
Primary Grades (PreK–3): Reports for VKRP, VALLSS, and iReady Math (as applicable by grade) will be available the week of June 2.
-
Upper Elementary, Middle, and High School (Grades 3–12): Reports from iReady and/or MAP assessments will be posted the week of June 23, after the assessment window closes for these students.
-
Standards of Learning (SOL) Score Reports: These will post daily to ParentVUE on a rolling basis starting June 3. We have heard that some families have access already.Â
Please log in to ParentVUE regularly to view your student’s progress. If you need support logging into SIS ParentVue please reach out to our SBTS Matt Stewart at MDStewart@fcps.edu.
The Get2Green team invites families to participate in an interactive garden this summer. The team would plant radishes in the outdoor classroom + garden this spring, and throughout the summer, families can stop by to harvest radishes and then fill out a google form with data such as size, appearance, and taste. If you are interested, please complete this Google Form by May 30. If enough families are interested, we will proceed.   Â

The 2024-2025 Sunrise Valley yearbooks have arrived, and they look amazing! If you missed the pre-order, you can get yours here. We have a limited number of books available for sale. When they’re gone, we won’t be able to print more, so reserve your copy today! All yearbooks will be delivered to classrooms during the last week of school. Congrats to Alexandria Fischer and Ashlyn Smith (6th graders) for the front cover art and Aurelia Muller (5th grader) for the back cover art. Questions? Contact Elisabeth Stark or Maggie Booth.Â
Kudos to Marisa Boyle, Amy Ferrara, and Alejandra McCarthy for signing up to lead concessions at next year's Basketball Challenge - Thank you! We now need two parents to organize and lead this event with the Fox Mill Chairs. Chairs will choose a date, recruit coaches and volunteers, and oversee the program. It's a big event, but it's well-documented! Past leaders have created timelines and detailed how-to guides. If you want to ensure this event happens next year for your rising 6th grader, or if you just love basketball, please sign up to lead!Â
We want to have leads in place before school lets out, so that the date can be set and the SLHS gym can be reserved over the summer. Questions? Contact Jennifer Glynn.Â
We invite you to participate in a series of community meetings in order to review and reflect on the initial draft scenarios before the start of summer break. Another round of community meetings will be held in the fall.
As part of these community meetings, families, staff, and community members will be able to explore and visualize potential boundary scenarios using a customized Boundary Explorer Tool. The tool will also be accessible from our website.Â
