PickUp Patrol Reminders 🚗
Dear GBE Families,
It’s hard to believe we find ourselves at the end of another school year! What an awesome year we’ve had at GBE! On top of the incredible academic achievements of our students, our GBE community continues to grow closer. Our PTA led many events including the Fall Fest, STEAM Fest, and winning the first annual One Greenbriar Basketball game! In addition, our school staff led evening events including GBE Night, Spotlight on Learning, and our Spring Music Concert! It’s so much fun to bring our school together and I want to thank you for attending these events all school year.
We loved celebrating our 6th graders on Monday night during their Promotion Ceremony at Chantilly High School! We are very proud of each student, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish after GBE! Thank you to our parents for leading our celebration on Tuesday. So many wonderful memories were made! We wish our 6th graders the best in middle school, and we hope they come back to see us!
We also got to celebrate our former GBE students during the recent Grad Walks from Fairfax High School and Chantilly High School. These seniors walked the halls of GBE and saw many of their former teachers. It is such an important reminder of the work that happens each day and seeing our former students succeed. We wish our GBE seniors the best in their next chapter!
It is also that time of the year to wish our best to our staff retiring, moving, or starting a new position this fall! Their contributions to GBE have made a lasting impact!

For next school year, GBE retained over 90% of our staff! We currently do not have any vacancies. We want to thank our incredible PTA for supporting our teachers. They have played an instrumental role by attending staff meetings and attending meetings specifically for our new staff. I also want to recognize all the parents that have been subbing in our building this school year! We have incredibly high substitute fill rates thanks to each of you! This makes such a difference for our staff!
Thank you for such a memorable school year. We love seeing your child grow and it is an honor to be a part of their educational journey! Have an amazing summer and we will see you again in August!
Sincerely,
Dave Pietzman, NBCT

On Thursday morning we had our first SCA inauguration ceremony. This year, students at GBE participated in an election process for next year's SCA cabinet positions. Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade were able to run for one of four positions respectively: Historian, Secretary, Vice President and President. We held a primary election, had a week of campaigning and then held our general election. The whole student body then voted on the positions. It was a fun process that culminated with an inauguration.
Please welcome our SCA Cabinet for the 2025-2026 school year!
Historian - Cristiano Parkins
Secretary - Warner Stadel
Vice President - Maria Guizarra
President - Zaid Hammood

To support continued student learning over the summer, FCPS has created a Summer Learning Resources Webpage for families of students currently in Grades K–6. The webpage includes optional, grade-level digital activities in Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies that align with what students have learned during the school year. These resources are designed to be flexible, engaging, and easy for families to use at home.

Use PickUp Patrol to report absences
In emergencies, email or call the front office
This is a reminder to put your students' absence, arriving late, or leaving school early in Pickup Patrol (PUP). All default plans should be up to date. Make sure you change the default plan anytime you change your students' permanent dismissal. Emails and phone calls are no longer encouraged, except for emergencies. When you enter a change in PUP, it goes directly to your child’s teacher as well as our front office staff. Please remember to provide a reason for the absence, late arrival or early dismissal. Changes must be entered on PUP by 2:30pm each day. If you need assistance setting up your PickUp Patrol account, please reach out to the front office at 703-633-6400 or GreenbriarEastOfficeParentContact@fcps.edu.
