Principals’ Corner
This week has been filled with engaging learning experiences for our students. Our kindergarteners had a fantastic time learning vital fire safety tips from local firefighters, complete with an exciting puppet show and a close-up look at a real firetruck! Additionally, our PTA meeting on Tuesday provided valuable insights for families, as police officers shared important information on topics ranging from social media awareness to student mental well-being. Amidst the end of year drawing closer, our students have also been diligently showcasing their growth and knowledge through various assessments, including the VALLS and SOLs. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication throughout the year!

SOL Schedule
Students in grades 3-8 participate in state assessments each year. State assessments measure how students are learning the state standards. Format and timing of state assessments vary by grade level and content area. Students in grade 3-6 participate in Spring Standards of Learning (SOL) standardized tests in reading and mathematics. Students in grade 5 also participate in science. The remaining testing schedule is below. Please help set your child up for success with these assessments by helping them get plenty of sleep the night before and encouraging them to eat breakfast at home or at school in the morning.

At Saratoga, your child’s success is our top priority. To determine the appropriate educational environment for your child for the 2025 - 2026 school year, we invite you to share information regarding your child’s needs by May 30, 2025. Please know that this form is optional.
You may list your child’s strengths, areas for growth, and motivators. You may also want to include your child’s learning preference (visual, audio, kinesthetic) and characteristics of the classroom structure or teacher personality that you feel will best meet your child’s needs.
Your input is appreciated. We work diligently to consider all aspects of your child when thinking about class placement. Please know that we cannot honor requests for specific teachers.

RINCÓN DE LOS DIRECTORES
Esta semana ha estado llena de experiencias de aprendizaje interesantes para nuestros estudiantes. Nuestros alumnos de kínder se lo pasaron genial aprendiendo consejos esenciales de seguridad contra incendios de los bomberos locales, con un emocionante espectáculo de marionetas y un vistazo de cerca a un camión de bomberos real. Además, nuestra reunión de la Asociación de Padres y Maestros (PTA) del martes brindó valiosas perspectivas para las familias, ya que los agentes de policía compartieron información importante sobre temas que abarcan desde la concienciación sobre las redes sociales hasta el bienestar mental de los estudiantes. Con el fin de año acercándose, nuestros estudiantes también han estado demostrando diligentemente su crecimiento y conocimientos a través de diversas evaluaciones, incluyendo las VALLS y las SOL. ¡Estamos increíblemente orgullosos de su arduo trabajo y dedicación durante todo el año!

Horario SOL
Los estudiantes de 3.º a 8.º grado participan en evaluaciones estatales cada año. Estas evaluaciones miden el aprendizaje de los estándares estatales por parte de los estudiantes. El formato y la fecha de las evaluaciones estatales varían según el grado y el área de contenido. Los estudiantes de 3.º a 6.º grado participan en las pruebas estandarizadas de Estándares de Aprendizaje de Primavera (SOL) en lectura y matemáticas. Los estudiantes de 5.º grado también participan en ciencias. El calendario de pruebas se encuentra a continuación. Por favor, ayude a su hijo/a a tener éxito en estas evaluaciones ayudándolo/a a dormir lo suficiente la noche anterior y animándolo/a a desayunar en casa o en la escuela por la mañana.

En Saratoga, el éxito de su hijo/a es nuestra principal prioridad. Para determinar el entorno educativo adecuado para su hijo/a durante el año escolar 2025-2026, le invitamos a compartir información sobre sus necesidades antes del 30 de mayo de 2025. Tenga en cuenta que este formulario es opcional.
Puede indicar las fortalezas, las áreas de crecimiento y las motivaciones de su hijo/a. También puede incluir sus preferencias de aprendizaje (visual, auditivo, kinestésico) y las características de la estructura del aula o la personalidad del docente que considere que mejor se adaptan a sus necesidades.
