Haycock Hello 5.19.25

this

Dear Haycock families,

Exciting news!  Haycock Elementary has been Awarded the EcoSchools U.S. Green Flag Award for a second year in a row. We achieved this designation for exceptional achievement in educating for sustainability as part of the FCPS Get2Green Initiative.  Please see this press release.  Thank you to Mr. Baker, Ms. Sklar, and all our students and families who played a part in this achievement for our school.

This past Friday, we finished SOL testing for all our students in grades 3-6. Make ups will take place this week.  Our students made us proud by taking their time, showing their work, and doing their best.

We wish all of you a happy Memorial Day and holiday weekend.

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu

Heather Boyd, AP   HABoyd@fcps.edu

🎨 Support the Crayon Initiative

Recycle for a Cause! 🖍️

Do you have old, broken, or unwanted crayons lying around? Don’t toss them—donate them!

Our school is collecting used crayons to support The Crayon Initiative, a nonprofit that recycles crayons into new ones and donates them to children’s hospitals across the country. This program not only helps reduce landfill waste but also brings color, creativity, and joy to kids in need.

📦 Collection Dates: Tuesday, May 27th to Friday, June 6

📍 Drop-Off Location: Box in the front lobby

Let’s work together to make a big impact with something as small as a crayon!

For more information, visit www.thecrayoninitiative.org

Parent Instrumentalist Survey

Are you interested in using your musical talents to support our wonderful chorus students next year?  We would love to have parents join us to assist as instrumentalists with new, cool choral arrangements.  Complete this form is you are musically able and interested.

Phase 2 Community Boundary Review Meetings

Families, staff, and community members can explore and visualize potential boundary scenarios using a customized Boundary Explorer Tool. The tool will be accessible from the FCPS website. You are also invited to participate in another series of community meetings in order to review and reflect on the initial draft scenarios before the start of summer break:

Each meeting will be hybrid, meaning that you may attend in person or via Zoom. Childcare for in-person participants and language interpretation/translation for all participants will be available as needed. Another round of community meetings will be held in the fall.

Visit FCPS’ Comprehensive Boundary Review page for more information.

The FCPS CARES Program allows parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees who go above and beyond to help others and show they care about their students, colleagues, and the community. We invite you to submit a story below to acknowledge the great work of an FCPS employee or group of employees who should receive FCPS CARES recognition.
