Student Bus Passes Offer Free Transportation All Year

All Fairfax County middle and high school students can get a Student Bus Pass SmarTrip card to ride the Fairfax Connector and Fairfax CUE buses for free! With the pass, fares are free from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, all year. Learn more about the Student Pass. Complete the application and return it to our front office. 

Children 12 and younger ride for free on Fairfax Connector with a paying adult.

Two level 3 culinary students planted 40 plants – four of each: cilantro, sage, basil, rosemary, parsley, chives, mint, oregano, thyme and dill. They planted four herbs in the perianal bed and six herbs in the annual bed. It was a beautiful morning!

Reunión Mensual de Padres Latinos – Anuncio de la Agenda

¡Nos complace invitarlos a nuestra próxima reunión mensual de Padres Latinos Mayo 17, 2025, en la caferia de 10-12pm, que contará con un taller muy importante sobre Conozca Sus Derechos!

Este taller será presentado por un equipo de representantes de los siguientes programas La Oficina de Trabajadores Sociales y Tambien tendremos representantes de la  Oficina Edu-Futuro:

  • Programa para Padres
  • Programa de Desarrollo Laboral
  • Servicios de Manejo de Casos

Cada representante compartirá información valiosa sobre los servicios disponibles para usted y su familia. También tendremos volantes y materiales con más detalles sobre los programas y el apoyo que ofrece Edu-Futuro.

¡Esperamos contar con su presencia y les animamos a traer sus preguntas!

Padres Latinos Monthly Meeting – Agenda Announcement

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Padres Latinos meeting on Saturday May 17th, in the cafeteria from 10-12pm which will feature a Know Your Rights workshop. After, this important session we will then meet a team of representatives from the following Edu-Futuro programs:

  • Parents Program
  • Workforce Development Program
  • Case Management Services

Each representative will share valuable information about the services available to you and your family. We will also have flyers and materials with additional details about Edu-Futuro's programs and support.

We look forward to seeing you there and encourage you to bring your questions!

Our last meeting June 7th we will have our school Principal Ms. Burke to answer any questions you might have 😊


Phase 2 Community Boundary Review Meetings

Families, staff, and community members can explore and visualize potential boundary scenarios using a customized Boundary Explorer Tool. The tool will be accessible from the FCPS website. You are also invited to participate in another series of community meetings in order to review and reflect on the initial draft scenarios before the start of summer break:

Each meeting will be hybrid, meaning that you may attend in person or via Zoom. Childcare for in-person participants and language interpretation/translation for all participants will be available as needed. Registration links will be shared soon. Another round of community meetings will be held in the fall.

PTSA Needs You!

Our PTSA is a vital part of what makes Edison such a special place. From supporting student scholarships and teacher mini-grants to organizing our All Night Grad Party, celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, and marking joyful traditions like cupcakes on Edison’s birthday—our PTSA is the heartbeat of many of our most meaningful moments. I work closely with our current president and PTSA leadership team, and together, we help shape a school environment that supports both staff and students.

Family Assistance Questionnaire

Edison High School is committed to ensuring that all our students have the resources and support they need throughout the school year to reach their full potential in school and within the community. The Family Assistance Questionnaire is entirely optional and confidential. You only need to complete the questionnaire if you are interested in receiving assistance (such as community resource information and grocery gift cards over holiday breaks). The questionnaire is available online in English and Spanish. Paper copies and questionnaires in other languages are available upon request. A Donation Distribution Event!

Families are invited to join a day of community and connection at Stock the Block on Saturday, May 17 from 10am to 1pm at the Gerry Hyland Government Center. There will be community resources, food boxes, and essential items for every member of your household.

The WIOA Youth Program is operated by the Fairfax County Department of Family Services. Supporting young adults ages 17-24 seeking employment and training services.

Did you know Edison High School has a food pantry available to support students and families? The pantry provides non-perishable food items, toiletries, and other basic necessities—free of charge. If you’d like to request support or learn more, please contact one of our Family Liaisons.

Human Services Resource Guide (HSRG)

The Human Services Resource Guide (HSRG) is a powerful, searchable online database that connects Fairfax County residents to thousands of nonprofit and government services. Mental Health Teletherapy

Virtual therapy sessions are available to FCPS high school students at no cost to provide a safe space to address concerns such as:

  • Mood/behavior changes, motivation, grief/loss.
  • Anxiety, worry, fears.
  • Social skills, bullying, peer and family relationships.
  • Academic stress.

Students can be referred by a guardian or designated school staff member. You may refer your child by calling 571-749-2940 or by contacting an FCPS school counselor, social worker, psychologist, or director of Student Services. Visit the FCPS Teletherapy webpage for more information.

🌱 Your Child's Mental Wellness Matters: Access Comprehensive Services

Reach out to the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) for specialized youth mental health services designed to help your child succeed. The CSB has individual and family counseling, psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, medication management, parenting groups, peer support, crisis response, recovery supports to include medication assisted treatment (MAT), intensive services, and more.

Varsity Tutors

📑 Varsity Tutors Provides On-Demand Support at No Cost

FCPS is partnering with Varsity Tutors to provide students and families with extra learning resources. Every student can take advantage of Varsity Tutors’ services at no cost, including weekly live online classes; on-demand 24/7 chat tutoring; essay editing; and study resources such as recorded content, practice problems, and diagnostic tests.
