Dear Stenwood Families,
We are keeping things interesting around the Hive as we start counting down to the last day of school. Many grades are keeping things fresh with alphabet themed countdowns from 26 days out. Today marks 18 days left! In Kindergarten, they’re celebrating “I” with “Ice pops!” and in 1st grade they made Ice Cream today!
Upper grades took their Math SOLs this week. And preschool and primary grade students have been showing all of their progress as they’ve been wrapping up their end of year diagnostics over the last few weeks.
Two things to remember for next week. Monday, May 19th is our last 3 hour Early Release for the school year. You received confirmation on Wednesday of your selection, please see that email for more information.
And our final Hive Family Meetings for the year will be Friday afternoon, May 23rd. We know many of you may have plans for the Memorial Day weekend. Remember that attendance matters everyday. If you do need to pick up your child early, please do so before 2:00PM on this day so our front office staff can enjoy their time with their Hive Families.

SOL Schedule
SOLs wrap up their first round next week! The SOL assessments are content assessments that measure a student's growth in Reading, Mathematics, and Science (5th grade only). These tests will be conducted during the dates listed in the table above.
Please mark your calendar - it is important that your child attend school on the dates designated for them to test. Please ensure your child gets plenty of rest the night prior and arrives at school on-time.
If you have not checked yet, scores are posting in ParentVUE the following Monday after your child takes their SOL. You can find them under Test History.
Lost & Found
Stenwood’s Lost and Found is overflowing. As we have numerous events over the last few weeks, please stop by to check to see if any of these items belong to you or your family. Any unclaimed items will be donated on the last day of school.
💪 Let's Finish the School Year Strong!
Student attendance at school is important all year long, up to the last day of school. Attendance has an effect on student performance and on school accreditation. See how to:
- Check your child’s attendance record.
- Help your student stay engaged at school.
- Report future absences.
- Understand the FCPS school calendar.
