FCPS Budget - Elementary School Impact
On Thursday, Dr. Reid presented an updated budget to the school board. There is currently a $121M gap between what the Board of Supervisors approved to transfer and what was asked for by FCPS. This budget, if passed as presented, will impact Floris ES and the services and supports we can provide - hitting hardest at the elementary level.
In order to meet the proposed budget, there are cuts that directly impact our Floris staff to include the following:
- Elementary Special Education Department Chair reduced from full-time to half-time
- Elementary Advanced Academic Resource Teacher reduced from full-time to half-time
- Elementary Classroom Monitors eliminated or reduced
- Staffing formula adjustments leading to increased class sizes in all grades
