HMES students brought flowers and PTA volunteers made bouquets for our staff.

Thank you to our students and PTA for making Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week special! We loved the notes, flowers, snacks, agua fresca, sidewalk chalk art, and salad bar. We appreciated all of the treats throughout the week!

HMES students decorated the sidewalk with messages for the teachers.

🌟SOL Testing

The remaining dates for this year’s SOL tests are listed below. Please avoid scheduling appointments or trips on these days so that your child can test on the same day as their peers. This helps ensure students do their best. The tests are untimed and will begin shortly after arrival. Students who arrive late may have to take the SOL on another day.

If you have questions about these tests, please visit the FCPS SOL Tests in Elementary and Middle Schools webpage or reach out to Lisa Blake, our SOL School Testing Coordinator, at 703-718-8300.

🐻 Kindergarten Registration

Attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Kindergarten registration is happening now at Hollin Meadows. Eligible children can also be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps us prepare and ensure we have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.

Families should prepare for registration by gathering documents and completing forms on the FCPS kindergarten registration webpage. FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, visit the kindergarten registration webpage

💻 Try Online Registration

Online registration for the 2025-26 school year is open. Parents/caregivers may register their children online for kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn how to begin the online registration process

When registering, parents/caregivers will need to create or log in to an existing SIS ParentVUE account.

For additional information, please contact Ms. Melissa Breen, our school registrar.

🩹 Required Immunizations for Rising 7th and 12th Graders

Additional immunizations are required for students entering 7th and 12th grades.

  • All students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations prior to the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap), Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
    • To meet the Tdap requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 7 or older.
    • To meet the MenACWY requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 10 or older.
    • As a parent/guardian, you may decide that your child not receive the HPV vaccination. The school does not require documentation if a parent/guardian elects for their student not to receive the HPV vaccination.
  • All students entering 12th grade are to receive one dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) prior to the beginning of school.
    • To meet the MenACWY 12th grade requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 16 or older.

Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and healthcare providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time. Additional resources are available on the FCPS Immunization Resources webpage and the Fairfax County Health Department
