Hello Bull Run families,
This week was Staff Appreciation Week, and we all felt the love and gratitude by everyone! Your words, cards, donations, and other acts of kindness meant so much to the staff, and will be cherished in our hearts.
SOL testing for reading wrapped up this week, and I am very proud of the effort I've seen the students putting into their assessments. Next week begins grade level mathematics tests and I hope the hard work continues. As I said in a previous newsletter, it is important to study and put in maximum effort, but it is important to note that these tests are just one way to show what you know—our students are amazing in so many ways that no test can measure.
REMINDERS:
TOMORROW is the last day of our 20-day Attendance Challenge! In each grade level, the class with the best attendance rate over the past 20 days will earn some extra recess and ice pops! Visit FCPS’ website for more attendance resources. I will announce the winners next week!
*Tomorrow, Friday 05/02, students are encouraged to wear their Bull Run spirit wear or school colors!
Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers, grandmothers and mother figures in our community. Your love, support, and dedication to your children are the foundation of their success both in and out of the classroom.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Congratulations to the Band musicians who performed at the 2025 District 11 Solo and Ensemble Festival this past weekend at Frost Middle School! These students chose to take on this extra challenge and have practiced their instruments for weeks leading up to their performances. Each student performed for a judge who is a local professional musician. The judge rated each performance in seven categories including intonation, tone quality and musicality. Each musician earned the highest rating possible – Superior! Congratulations to our outstanding musicians!

Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…
There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:
- Determine eligibility.
- Identify your local school.
- Gather documents.
- Fill out forms.
- Schedule an appointment.
After the appointment at the school (the student and one guardian must be present), the student will be ready for orientation (more information to come at a later date). Read more about the registration process. For additional information, please contact Maria Betancourth, our school registrar.
Try Online Registration
Learn how to begin the online registration process.
When registering, parents/caregivers will need to create or log in to an existing SIS ParentVUE account.
