 Oakton Pyramid Art Show
Thank you to our fantastic art teachers, Mrs. Gleason and Mrs. Georgacopoulos! The Oakton Pyramid Art Show this week at OHS highlighted student art from our school as well as other schools in our pyramid. Students were so proud to show off their beautiful creations to all who attended.
 Helping Hands Award
Each year, the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna honors a 6th grade student from each school in the Oakton/Vienna community, whose actions on behalf of her/his class, school, or community, embody the tenet of Optimist International: “giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.”
OES was proud to nominate Ella for this recognition! For 7 incredible years, Ella has been a beacon of service and compassion at OES. Her warm smile lights up Panther TV, her voice brings comfort over the PA at dismissal, and her safety patrol leadership is unmatched. She goes above and beyond, generously caring for our youngest Panthers and showing immense empathy and patience when assisting students in our enhanced autism classrooms. As a Girl Scout, Ella provides service and support to our community. She makes a positive impact on everyone around her.
OES received a $300.00 donation from the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna in honor of Ella's outstanding service to others.
2025-2026 Class Assignments
At Oakton, we strive for healthy, heterogeneous student enrollment in each classroom. We have a process in place whereby teachers, specialists, and administrators confer with grade level teams to make recommendations that will result in a well-balanced classroom. These settings include a broad range of academic levels, behavioral characteristics, and learning styles. Teacher styles are also taken into consideration when completing teacher assignments.
To further outline the process, there are eight areas used in the determination of class assignments. These include:
- Heterogeneous groupings
- Gender balance
- Balance of special needs
- Peer interactions
- Special services
- Learning environment
- Health and medical concerns
- Equitable distribution of students
These criteria play a role in the final decision for assignment. While parent input is welcomed, a request for an individual teacher cannot be granted. Assigning students is a complex and educational process that we take seriously.
Parents are welcome to share information about their child here. All input must be shared via the google form by Friday, May 23. We will only be using this document when we create classes, emails will not be considered.
Oakton Balance Project presents:
Phones, Tech, & Kids Panel on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 6:30-8:00pm in the OES Library. Open to all - students welcome. Registration preferred, but not required. Light refreshments will be served. Please register here.
Science Olympiad
Rising 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders - Discover the magic of science with hands-on experiments and activities, including building cars, catapults, parachutes, and more!
