Dear Poplar Tree Families,
Last week our Fire vs. Ice basketball game was lots of fun! Thanks to all the volunteers, players (staff and students), coaches, Spirit Squad, and Pep Band who helped make it a great success!
We are starting a new video segment in our Paw Print called "Where in the School is Ms. Andujar!" Each week, Ms. Andujar will visit a different place in the school to see what's going on and remind you all of some important upcoming events! You can see where Ms. Andujar visited first by by clicking on the image below!
Next week SOLs begin. You can see the SOL schedule further down in this message. In addition, it is Teacher Appreciation week! We look forward to celebrating next week and are grateful for all that our PTA and families do for our Poplar Tree staff!

Please note: on Wednesday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 14 there will be a change in our lunch schedule. 6th grade will eat lunch and 12:30 pm on those days and 3rd grade will eat lunch at 1:05 pm. Kindergarten classes will either eat in their classrooms or at 1:05 pm. Check with your child's teacher if you were planning to join your child for lunch on either of those days!
Poplar Tree Field Day
Our Poplar Tree Field Day will be Friday, May 30, 2025. Please see the flyer for specific times for each grade level. We will need volunteers to make the day successful! All students will be trained in the events so you do not have to teach the games. Volunteers will help monitor safety and keep the station running smoothly. Poplar Tree Adapted Field Day
Students participating in our self-contained Adapted PE classes will be engaging in stations with their PE Pals as part of a culminating activity on Wednesday, June 4. They will then be transitioning out to the playground to continue the fun.
If you would like to join your child and their classroom teachers to continue the fun, please plan to head to the playground from 1:45-2:15pm. You will need to check in at the front office before the event. Please email Kirsten Birge at KEbirge@fcps.edu by May 30th if you are planning to join!
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener Results Now Available!
Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March, providing information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results are now available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail.
For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide. Feel free to contact your child’s teacher or our school counselor or school social worker with any questions!

👖👟Clothing Drive🧦🩲
The Clinic needs spare clothing for student accidents: new or gently used gender-neutral, stretch-top pants; new or gently used shoes (youth sizes 10-13 only); new underwear & socks. There is a collection box in the main lobby.
📸Attention 6th Grade Families!📸
We are creating a slideshow and a baby photo guessing game for the 6th-grade promotion celebration.
You know your kids like seeing themselves and their friends. We are looking for any photos that pertain to school events, from the kindergarten Halloween parade and Panther Prowl to field trips or other candid shots of class celebrations or events. If your child attended another school for part of elementary school, please include those photos of your child. We aim to have everyone represented.
Name each photo with the grade/event and names of the students in it.
Here is the form to submit photos of your child’s time at Poplar Tree and one baby picture for the Guess Who Game by May 9th!

Save the Date!!! Our Block Party is coming up on Friday, May 16th from 6:30 pm until 8 pm!

Taco Bamba Fundraiser – All Day May 7! 🌮

👟 Running Club K - 6th Grade 👟
It’s time to get your running and walking shoes on! We are continuing the before-school Running/Walking Club for all student grades 1-6. If a Kindergartener wants to join, please have a parent come and run or walk too. Best of all, it’s FREE! We will need at least 3 parents present each Thursday to ensure the safety of all of the children. Bring your mug of coffee and socialize as you help cross off a Panther Paw for each lap run!
