Dear Eagle View Families,
This week was filled with celebration, connection, and community! We wrapped up Month of the Military Child with a special lunch honoring our military-connected students. On Wednesday, these students also planted beautiful purple flowers in our front lawn with Ms. Morency—a wonderful way to celebrate their strength and resilience.
We were also honored to welcome Springfield District School Board Vice Chair, Ms. Sandy Anderson, for a special visit! Our 6th grade students did a fantastic job teaching her all about our House system, and she even got to spin the House Wheel—landing on the House of dreamers, Rêveur! Ms. Anderson also had the chance to visit several classrooms, including our preschool and CSS classrooms. We were proud to showcase the amazing teaching and learning happening across our school.
Next week, we look forward to celebrating Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week! Our dedicated and caring staff go above and beyond each day to support our students, and we are excited to honor them throughout the week.
Finally, don’t forget to join us for Slime Night, hosted by our Student Council, on Thursday, May 8th from 5:30–7:00 PM. Doors open at 5:20 PM. This fun family event will feature a variety of activities planned by our student leaders. Come out and support them while enjoying an evening of messy fun!
Please see below for more details—we hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
KJ An
Principal

Spring Screening for School-Based (Subject Specific & Part-Time) Services for 2024-2025 Academic School Year
Students can be screened for school-based (Subject Specific & Part Time) AAP services at any time in the school year. In the spring, local schools review data on all students to determine services for the start of the next school year.
Full-Time Eligibility Information
Students who are not found eligible for full-time services for the 2025-2026 academic school year will automatically be screened for school-based advanced services. Parents do not need to submit an additional referral form.
If you have any questions, please contact Nicole Sharpes nmsharpes@fcps.edu.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will begin finalizing the budget on Tuesday, May 6. The current advertised budget underfunds FCPS by $150 million.
Without new revenue, such as the meals tax (adding just $2-3 to an average dining bill for a family of four), FCPS will face significant cuts.
What Is at Risk?
Go to fcps.edu/crossroads to see examples of where FCPS exceeds minimum state standards
Additional immunizations are required for students entering 7th and 12th grades:
- All students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations prior to the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap), Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- To meet the Tdap requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 7 or older.
- To meet the MenACWY requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 10 or older.
- As a parent/guardian, you may decide that your child not receive the HPV vaccination. The school does not require documentation if a parent/guardian elects for their student not to receive the HPV vaccination.
- All students entering 12th grade are to receive one dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) prior to the beginning of school.
- To meet the MenACWY 12th grade requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 16 or older.
Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and health care providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time. Additional resources are available on the FCPS Immunization Resources webpage and the Fairfax County Health Department.
