This past week, students at Fort Belvoir Primary Elementary School came together to celebrate Earth Day in meaningful and engaging ways. Across all grade levels, our young learners embraced the importance of environmental care through a variety of hands-on activities. Some students stepped outside to plant colorful flowers around our school grounds, brightening our shared spaces while learning about the importance of nurturing nature. Others organized clean-up efforts, picking up litter and helping to keep our campus clean and welcoming for everyone.
Inside the classrooms, students reflected on what it means to protect our planet and how simple, thoughtful actions can make a lasting impact. Through creative writing projects, they shared meaningful ideas on conserving resources, reducing waste, and protecting the environment. It was truly heartwarming to see the students of Fort Belvoir Primary Elementary School recognize their role as caretakers of the Earth and commit to making positive, lasting changes for a brighter, greener future.
Together, we are and will continue to be Fort Belvoir strong!

Fort Belvoir Elementary Food Market

Our Food Market continues to serve as a strong and dependable pillar within our school community, reflecting our commitment to supporting the whole child and their family. Each month, more than two hundred families visit the market to collect essential items that help sustain their households. The consistent participation highlights both the need and the trust our families place in this vital resource. From pantry staples to personal care products, the Food Market ensures that our students and their loved ones have access to the basics they need to thrive.
Since launching the market this year, our team has proudly served a total of 1,600 families. This effort is a direct reflection of the compassion, dedication, and collaboration among staff, volunteers, and community partners. We pride ourselves not only on being a high-performing academic institution but also on being a beacon of care, equity, and service within our school community. The Food Market is just one example of how we go beyond the classroom to lift up our families and create a nurturing environment where all can succeed.
Our next Food Market will take place on May 22nd, and we look forward to continuing to serve our families with care and compassion. As always, we welcome all members of our school community to take part—whether by picking up needed items, volunteering to help, or simply spreading the word. We would like to thank Mrs. Dolores Elliott, our Family Liaison, and Mrs. Deatra Idlet, our Social Worker, for working collaboratively to facilitate this project on behalf of the school.

As a school, we showered them with flowers and heartfelt hugs, expressing our gratitude for their tireless efforts and unwavering support.
They are the backbone of our school, and we are immensely thankful for all they do!

✅ Share Feedback With County Health Department on School Health Services
The Fairfax County Health Department and Fairfax County Public Schools School Health Services invite parents/caregivers of FCPS students to participate in a survey on satisfaction with school health room services. The survey takes about five minutes to complete and will be open until Monday, May 5.
School health rooms (clinics) are managed by public health nurses and school health aides. Those staff provide care for students who become sick or injured during the school day, who require medications during the school day, and/or who have a chronic health condition that requires management during the school day.
Additionally, the school health room staff:
- Provide health education, communicable disease prevention, and health screenings.
- Work with schools to help address the root causes of population health disparities so that all students have equitable access to educational and health opportunities.
- Ensure that students have care for minor injuries and illnesses, and chronic health conditions, thus helping to minimize health barriers to learning.
Survey results will provide a basis for quality improvement of school health room services as well as inform future planning for schools.
Class Placement: Family Input (optional) due Friday, May 9

- Social relationships
- A blend of children with diverse needs, personalities, and learning interests in every class.
Due to the numerous factors involved in creating balanced classroom placements, including teacher staffing, we are unable to honor requests for specific teachers.
If you have information you believe is important for us to consider regarding your child’s placement for next year, please complete this form by Friday, May 9.
If you do not have any specific information you would like us to consider, there is no need to complete the form.
