PTA Meeting and Social TONIGHT
We hope you can join us TONIGHT, April 24th at 6 PM for our next General PTA meeting. For the first time in a long time, this meeting will be IN PERSON at Frost Middle School. Please RSVP at this link if you can make it: RSVP.
The meeting will be held in the Lecture Hall. Please use Entrance #3 to enter the building!
During the meeting we will:
- Receive updates from the Frost administration and PTA.
- Discuss and vote on a possible conversion to a Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA), which will bring student voices into the PTA.
- Have an important and engaging discussion on the impact of social media on adolescent mental health, let by Dr. Emily Aron, a child and adolescent psychiatrist at the Georgetown University Medical Center. See more information about this presentation and speaker below.
We also plan to have a potluck dessert social following the meeting so please bring a dessert to share, if you’d like (appreciated but not required to attend the meeting). And, finally, we’ll be selling Frost spirt wear, 8th grade lawn signs, and all new Frost car magnets! If you pre-ordered a lawn sign, you can pick it up at the meeting on Thursday.
Discussion on the Impact of Social Media on Adolescent Mental Health
As young people navigate the digital world—often with their first smartphones—parents and students alike are grappling with how to build healthy habits and stay informed. Dr. Aron will share what the latest research reveals about social media’s effects on mental health, attention, and sleep, and offer practical guidance for families. The presentation will also include information about a new NIH-funded study that Frost students and their families may be eligible to join.
About the Speaker
Dr. Emily Aron is a child and adolescent psychiatrist at the Georgetown University Medical Center. Her work focuses on how social media use affects mental health in youth, particularly during the critical window when they first receive a smartphone. Dr. Aron is a co-investigator on a large, NIH-funded study following middle schoolers over time to better understand the links between social media use and outcomes like anxiety, depression, and attention challenges. She is also passionate about helping families navigate the digital world with knowledge and confidence.
Frost Gear for Sale
Graduation yard signs, Frost car magnets and other spirit wear will be for sale at the PTA meeting tonight. Eighth grade graduation yard signs are also for sale on the PTA website. You can order your yard signs here.

8th Grade Celebration
Save the date for the 8th grade celebration, which will be held the evening of June 6th! This event will be the only graduation celebration for our rising 9th graders, and gives them a chance to gather to commemorate their middle school experience. We will need a lot of help, so please consider whether you will be able to volunteer to help at the event. Look for more details to come soon!

Join the PTA Today!
Thank you to many who joined and others who stepped up to volunteer. As we embark on another exciting school year, we invite you to make a difference for our students and teachers at Frost Middle School through Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) membership.
PTA Family Memberships are $25. Funds from PTA memberships and donations are used in support of the Frost PTA initiatives, including our staff Grant Program. Your dollars will go directly to programs that enrich the experience of students, families, and staff here at Frost. A family membership also includes access to the Frost online student directory. Every parent/guardian who signs up for PTA membership automatically gets included in the student directory, unless you choose to opt your student out.
You can purchase your PTA membership here. Additional donations are also welcome to support the important work we do for our teachers and students! Please email join@frostmspta.org with any questions.
