Roadrunner Rundown

April 21, 2025

Principal's Message

Dear Marshall Road Families,

We hope you had a wonderful spring break! These final weeks will be filled with learning in a variety of settings (inside and outside) with activities to engage our students. Please talk with your children about how they can make this last quarter their best yet!

Before break some of our 5th and 6th grade students were involved in the Wizard of Oz performance. We are so proud of the hard work they put into this wonderful production and are grateful to our PTA  for sponsoring these important enrichment opportunities.

Please take a moment to check out the MRES Composting Initiative that was recently shared on the FCPS website. We are working hard to make this a habit at lunch time. Another shout out to the PTA for initiating and supporting this wonderful learning opportunity for all.

We will have a 3-hour early release next Monday, April 28. Please use the same dismissal plan previously elected. SACC will be open at 1:05 pm for enrolled in SACC. Some students will be invited to stay beyond the early release time to receive additional tutoring related to absenteeism. Please watch for any communication about the early release day. You must contact the office if you have a dismissal change.

Have a great week!

School Events and Information

Attendance Matters

We have about 36 days remaining. We really want to see each child each day!

Upcycled Project

We are excited to help kick-start Earth Month with a very special end-of-the-year art project that our 6th grade students are working on. Students are making sculptures of roadrunners to be displayed around our school. This project is very special because we are using all recycled materials!  We still need your help by collecting donations of used plastic, metal, and glass items this week, April 21-25. All donations must be empty, clean, and dry, so rinse them out! Also, please do not bring in things with sharp edges (like broken glass). We are NOT collecting paper or cardboard as those things won’t be waterproof. See flyer for details.

Yearbook Sales

Yearbook sales have begun, and pre-orders will be accepted through next Monday, April 28. Online orders can be placed using this Yearbook Order Form. If you would prefer to pay $20.00 by cash or check, make checks payable to Marshall Road Elementary School, place cash or check in an envelope and write your child’s name, teacher name and YEARBOOK on the envelope. Each yearbook is packed with candid photos, memories of the 2024-2025 school year, staff photos and individual photos of each student by grade level. There will be a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase after all the prepaid orders are distributed during the last week of school. Details in this flyer.

Staff Spotlight

MRES Staff Spotlight

Ms. Rosales, 3rd grade teacher, is the winner of the parking spot this week. Ms. Rosales has been working at Marshall Road for 9 years. She mentioned: "I am grateful to MRES for bringing me many friends, great families and students, and an amazing daycare for my son." Ms. Rosales loves traveling, photography and exercise. She shared an interesting fact, "When I graduated from grad school, I went skydiving with my grandma who was 83 at the time. I was terrified on the flight up and she said “I will be floating like a bird. She then asked me if I was a chicken or a rooster before she jumped out. She was the first one out and the last to land, I was the opposite. I will never go skydiving again, but even if I did, I know I would never be able to top that skydiving experience. It was incredible to watch her moment!"
