Grade 4 students visited Mount Vernon just before Spring Break.
A Message from Ms. Kirkland
I hope this message finds you and your families enjoying a fun and restful Spring Break. During the break, our custodial team was hard at work doing some spring cleaning to help ensure that our students have a clean space to learn in the final weeks of school. We are so grateful for their hard work!
We return on Monday, April 21. We have two events on this day. It is an early release Monday. Students will dismiss at 12:30pm, unless your child is staying for supervision or intervention. Later, Dr. Reid will be at Mount Eagle starting at 6:30pm for a Community Conversation. Interpretation is provided. This is an excellent opportunity to hear directly from our Superintendent about important issues that impact your children, and to share your hopes and dreams for your child's education. Child care is available for families that need it.
I look forward to see everyone back in our building on Monday, ready to finish this last quarter strong! As always, thank you for your partnership.

We will work to put a book fair on the calendar earlier in the school year next school years so our students have the opportunity to participate in this fun tradition.

Events in our Pyramid
🍎 Make Every Day Count! The Importance of Attendance
As you plan upcoming trips and other family events, please remember the importance of sending your child to school every day. Review the FCPS School Year Calendar and try to plan any time away during breaks from school.
Children who show up for school regularly develop fundamental reading and math skills while building a habit of good attendance that will carry them into college and careers. Research shows that children who were chronically absent (missing 18 days or more) in kindergarten and first grade were far less likely to read proficiently at the end of third grade.
Learn how families can help form good attendance habits.
