We hope everyone is enjoying a restful and fun-filled spring break! It’s hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by, and that we're now heading into the final stretch. We are so proud of the growth and accomplishments our students have made so far, and we’re excited to finish the school year on a high note.
Students return to school on Monday, April 21st, which will be an early release day. As we come back, we kindly ask our students to stay focused and finish strong. This means coming to school consistently, staying engaged in learning, and continuing to make a SPLASH by being safe, kind, and responsible every day.
Let’s work together to make these last few weeks successful and memorable!
In partnership with,
Dr. LaZedrick (Zed) Jemison, Principal

Morning Tutoring Program to Support Attendance and Achievement!
Help us reach our goal of 9% or less this year!
Regular attendance is a significant factor in a student’s success:
 |
|
- Chronic absenteeism (missing 10% of the school year) correlates to low academic achievement;
- Absenteeism is a powerful predictor of dropout rates;
- Absenteeism has been linked to poor outcomes later in life.
|
In our ongoing effort to improve our school’s chronic absenteeism rate, we are launching a morning tutoring program specifically designed for students who have accumulated 12 or more absences.
This initiative not only supports our school’s goal of improving student attendance, but it also provides students with valuable academic support to help them stay on track and succeed in their learning. By offering targeted instruction and a welcoming environment before the school day begins, we are working to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive—both academically and socially.
By highlighting this important information, we aim to keep families informed and engaged in our collective efforts to encourage regular school attendance. If you would like for your child to participate, please contact our front office at (703) 781-2700.
We appreciate your continued support in helping all of our students succeed!
Mount Vernon High School Art Show

Our Dolphins made a big splash at the Mount Vernon High School Pyramid Art Show, proudly showcasing their creativity alongside student artists from across the region. This inspiring event featured artwork from several schools within the Mount Vernon High School community, and our students shined brightly. We are deeply appreciative of the many families and staff members who came out to support our young artists and celebrate their talents.
Families can see more pictures of the event on our social media sites.
