A Note from Fairfax Academy

Dear Academy families,

Welcome to the fourth quarter! The end of the school year is approaching so fast. In this email you will find some details to help end the year strong - and a recap of some recent Academy happenings!

Academy Reminders

With testing season upcoming, reporting Academy attendance is important to help keep attendance accurate. Base schools do not report field trip rosters, testing rosters and schedules, or other absences to Academy, and Academies cannot see ParentVue submissions to base schools. Use the links at the bottom of this email to report Academy attendance.

Academy Connections

korean

Mrs. Kang’s Korean 2 classes wrapped up a yearlong project collaborating with Kwangshin High School via the FCPS Global Classroom initiative. Students created detailed travel itineraries promoting well-being and focused on social connection, physical health, and relaxation.

The project encouraged language practice, research, and exploration of our area’s wellness resources. The exchange fostered international relationships and cultural exploration that was meaningful and memorable for all! Congratulations!

fashion

Fashion Careers student designers went material sourcing at Upcycle Reuse, G Street Fabrics, and Fibre Space- and toured the life-cycle of a Goodwill donation with our partners at Goodwill Greater Washington!

mct

Music & Computer Technology students took a deep dive into the professional world with back-to-back field trips to Trilogy Sound Studio in Burke, VA. Students got hands-on experience with high-end gear, explored career pathways in audio engineering, and asked thoughtful questions during our Q&A with working professionals. Huge thanks to the Trilogy Sound Studio team for welcoming us and sharing their knowledge. These visits continue to inspire our students to dream bigger and work harder in music and production! Thanks go to Educate Fairfax for their generous grant!
