RVES News and Notes - April 11

April 11- News and Notes!

Rolling Valley Families,

What an exciting and meaningful week at Rolling Valley! We wrapped up before spring break with a full slate of activities, celebrations, and sunshine. Throughout the week, we proudly celebrated our military-connected students during Purple Up Week! From purple-themed outfits to classroom conversations and recognition events, our school community came together to honor the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of our military families. It was a powerful reminder of the incredible students and families who are part of our RVES family.

In addition to Purple Up Week, our 6th graders had the chance to visit Key Middle School to get a sneak peek at what’s ahead in their academic journey. They returned excited and inspired for all that’s to come in middle school!

Our 2nd grade students also had an amazing time on their field trip to Cub Run. The weather was perfect, and the experience was full of exploration and hands-on learning. Field trips like these spark curiosity and bring learning to life in such memorable ways.

We’re also incredibly proud of the students whose artwork was featured at the West Springfield Pyramid Art Show! Seeing our students’ creativity on display alongside other schools in our pyramid was a true celebration of talent and expression.

In the spirit of spring and sustainability, our Get2Green team got their hands dirty this week as they began cleaning out and preparing our raised flower beds for planting. Their work is helping to bring new life to our outdoor spaces and is a wonderful example of environmental stewardship in action. We can’t wait to see what begins to grow!

Thank you to our teachers, families, and community members who helped make this week so special. We hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved, relaxing, and joyful spring break!

Family Input for Class Placements 2025-2026

As we begin planning for the 2025-2026 school year, we value and welcome your input. Creating class assignments is a thoughtful process that involves multiple perspectives to ensure a positive learning environment for all students. We recognize that a strong teacher-student match and a well-balanced class dynamic contribute to student success.

If there is additional information about your child—particularly regarding their learning style and the classroom environment in which they thrive—that you feel would be helpful for our staff to know, please complete the Family Input Form no later than Monday, May 2, 2025. If you have more than one child attending RVES, please submit a separate form for each child.

While we do not accept requests for specific teachers or friendship pairings, we encourage you to share insights about your child's needs and the type of learning environment that would be most beneficial for them. Please know that even without a form, our team carefully considers each child’s strengths and needs when making placement decisions. As in previous years, families will receive class placement notifications just before the start of the school year.
