Welcome to Our Braddock ES Family, #OneFamily

Greetings, Braddock Families & Community!

keesha

We want to express our sincere gratitude for your continued partnership in your children's education. We deeply appreciate your commitment to sending your students to school each and every day. Your dedication to ensuring consistent attendance plays a vital role in their academic success and overall well-being.

As of today, Monday, April 7, 2025, Braddock ES has a 13.9% Chronic Absenteeism Rate, with 131 chronically absent students out of 961 students.

As we approach the testing season, regular school attendance is crucial because it fosters academic growth which allows students to engage in lessons that build their academic knowledge and avoid falling behind.

We understand that occasional absences are unavoidable. However, we encourage you to prioritize regular around this upcoming testing season. Remember, every day in the classroom counts! Please support us so that we can ensure that every student reaces their full potential.

Thank you once again for your unwavering support.

Sincerely With Warmest Regards,

Keesha Jackson-Muir, Principal

A huge thank you to our amazing parents for your incredible support during the Annandale Pyramid Art Night! It was a truly vibrant and engaging evening for our students and families, and its success wouldn't have been possible without your collective dedication, hard work, and the wonderful efforts of our Art Teachers. We are so grateful!

Autism Acceptance Month

s

April is Autism Acceptance Month. One in 44 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder in the United States, according to the CDC. Our schools and staff play a vital role in creating and ensuring inclusive environments that accommodate and affirm autistic students.

Braddock is excited to announce our Inclusion Spirit Week, taking place April 7th-11th. This week is dedicated to celebrating and promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. Please see the flyer for details on how your student can participate.

Month of the Military Child

April is the Month of the Military Child! Every year we take the opportunity to recognize military-connected youth for their service and contribution to our community. Fairfax County Public Schools is proud to have over 14,000 military-connected youth as a part of our student body. We appreciate the varied life experiences they bring to our school community, and recognize their strength and resilience.

Learn more about Month of the Military Child and FCPS resources for military families.

Purple Up! Day

To show our support for all our military-connected families, we are inviting our school community to “Purple Up!” on Wednesday, April 9, for military children. Why purple? Purple symbolizes all branches of the military as a combination of Army green, Marine Corps red, and Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force and Space Force blue.

Step-By-Step Family Preparedness Plan

Every family should have a Family Preparedness Plan in case of an emergency. It is critical for immigrant families to think ahead and set more concrete plans for immigration emergencies that can arise. For example, this Resource Toolkit goes into detail about different childcare options available in case of an absent parent, where to find trusted immigration services in your community, and how to prepare to assert your constitutional rights in the presence of an immigration officer.
