Roadrunner Rundown
April 7, 2025
Principal's Message
Dear Marshall Road Families,
We are looking forward to this last week of school before our Spring Break as we continue to focus on good attendance and giving our very best each day. An exciting part of this week is the Wizard of Oz Musical! We are very proud of our 5th and 6th grade students who have worked so hard on this performance and we hope you can join us in supporting their amazing efforts. Students will attend the musical with their class on Tuesday or Wednesday. Families are invited to attend on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00 pm (gym doors will open for seating at 6:40 pm-no earlier).
Please take a few extra minutes to read the important Arrival and Dismissal Procedure and Safety Reminders below. It is imperative that all families follow these guidelines for the safety of our students and staff. Thank you for partnering with us.
We wish you a fun and relaxing Spring Break, April 14-18. The office will be closed during this time.
Have a great week!

School Events and Information
Attendance Matters
The longer days this time of year provide more time for evening activities which can lead to later bedtimes for students. To the best of your ability, try to keep a regular sleep routine to support getting to school on time. Attendance is a priority until our last day of school.
Upcycled Project
We are excited to share with you a special announcement to help kick-start Earth Month. This year our sixth grader students are working on a very special end-of-the-year art project. They are making sculptures of roadrunners to be displayed around our school when they graduate. The part that makes this project so special is that we are using all recycled materials! Here is where we need your help: we will be collecting donations of used plastic, metal, and glass items this week (April 7-11) and the week after spring break (April 21-25). All things donated must be empty, clean, and dry, so rinse them out! Also, please do not bring in things with sharp edges (like broken glass). We are NOT collecting paper or cardboard as those things won’t be waterproof. See flyer for more details.
Yearbook Sales
Yearbook sales have begun, and pre-orders will be accepted through April 28. Online orders can be placed using this Yearbook Order Form. If you would prefer to pay $20.00 by cash or check, make checks payable to Marshall Road Elementary School, place cash or check in an envelope and write your child’s name, teacher name and YEARBOOK on the envelope. Each yearbook is packed with candid photos, memories of the 2024-2025 school year, staff photos and individual photos of each student by grade level. There will be a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase after all the prepaid orders are distributed during the last week of school. Yearbook Flyer

MRES alum, Ashton Schaffer, is the new theatre teacher at West Springfield HS. He wants to invite Marshall Road Elementary students to their “Spotlight on the Arts” day! He shares, “On Saturday, May 3rd, we are hosting 3-6 grade students from around the county and giving them a high school theatre experience! We are going to teach theatre games, songs, hold tech workshops, dance, and provide participants with a performance experience. It’s going to be an amazing day, and I’d love to get some Marshall Road students in the building!” Details can be found in this flyer.
