Dear Navy Families and Caregivers,

I hope this finds you well enjoying this wonderful weekend. The Pannutti household had travel soccer during this beautiful weekend, which made our travels much more enjoyable! I would like to extend my gratitude to any family members who joined me during our first Principal meet and greet! I was able to share the wonderful things happening around Navy, and also express gratitude for your support this school year. It takes a village to create and maintain a positive school community and you’re a major part of that work. As I continue to interface with the stakeholders across our community to include our students, I will increase my breathe and depth of knowledge needed to lead Navy ES to the next level. Parents expressed the need to continue to foster an inclusive environment, and acquire and retain highly qualified teachers. As we continue to move forward together, I look forward to your continued insights as we begin looking ahead to next year!

During our meeting, I had the opportunity to share school-wide data with those in attendance. I reviewed our iReady and SOL data in reading and math, early literacy data from the VALLs assessments, and our Chronic Absenteeism rate this school year. This data depicted a school that is performing well above the district average and something to be tremendously proud of as a school community.

Our Navy Stars are shining bright and there’s a lot to be excited about on the horizon. I hope you have a wonderful week and I look forward to seeing you around the school!

With gratitude,

Jason

Arab American Heritage Month

Arab American Heritage Month

FCPS is proud to celebrate National Arab American Heritage Month in April. This special month provides an opportunity to recognize the history and valuable contributions of Arab Americans. Arab Americans have ancestry in one of the world’s 22 Arab nations, which are located from northern Africa through western Asia. The people of these nations are ethnically, politically, and religiously diverse but share a common cultural and linguistic heritage. Learn more about the heritage months, celebrations, and traditions celebrated in FCPS.

Excellence is at a Crossroads

Fairfax County residents believe in the value of a strong public school system. Residents live here because of the excellence of Fairfax County Public Schools, even our community members with grown children. Excellence in FCPS comes from its people — dedicated teachers and support staff who make sure that our students are ready to learn. Today, that excellence is at a crossroads.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will finalize the budget on Tuesday, May 6, and the current advertised budget underfunds FCPS by $150 million.

Now is the time. Do we want continued excellence, or are we ready to consider cuts to important programs that we have come to expect from FCPS?

Do you believe in the power and promise of public education? Go to fcps.edu/crossroads.

⏰ Share Your Thoughts on School Start Times

FCPS would like to hear from all families on the possibility of adjusting school start times across the division. Please check your email for a survey link from Fairfax County Public Schools. It was also sent to staff as well as to students in grades 5-12. The confidential survey will be open through Saturday, April 12.
