Decorate for Heritage Night!

paper doll for Heritage Night

We would love for families to decorate a paper doll in their heritage to display at school for Heritage Night, Thursday, April 10 at 5:30pm!

Make a paper doll for Heritage Night! Learn more here

Please cut out the doll first. Next, complete the information on the back of the doll, this identifies the owner.  Now you are ready to start creating your doll.

You may use whatever you have available (cloth, ribbons, construction paper, markers and crayons, etc.) to create your special person. You can create the face by drawing and coloring it or by placing your child’s picture on it.

Have your child bring the decorated doll back to school for our display.

🐝Herndon ES Kindergarten Registration Open
2025-26 School Year

Registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the necessary teachers and resources in place on the first day of school.  A child may enter kindergarten for this coming school year if he or she turns five on or before September 30, 2025.

If you have not registered your child, we are scheduling appointments for all rising kindergartners.  We have Spanish translators in the office and can arrange for other languages as well.  Please contact Shermin Sirajudin, our Student Information Assistant, by email at ssirajudin@fcps.edu or by phone at 703-326-3100.

Visit the Herndon ES registration webpage for more details.

🧸 Apply for 2025-26 SY
FCPS Pre-K and Early Head Start TODAY

Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, however, space is limited and provided based on need, not “first come, first serve.”

FCPS Pre-K and Early Head Start programs provide a high-quality early learning experience for qualifying children with economic and educational risk factors ages 6 weeks to 4 years living in Fairfax County.

Pre-K prioritizes 4-year-old applicants but also accepts applications for children who will be 3 years old by September 30, 2025. Early Head Start is located at three elementary schools — Clearview, Crestwood, and Dogwood — and accepts applications from expectant mothers and parents/guardians of children 6 weeks to 2 years old.

Applications are accepted online, by email, by postal mail, or in person at 7423 Camp Alger Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia 22042. If you have a question about the application process or status, please call 703-208-7900 (English) or 703-208-7901 (Spanish).

Boys and Girls Pants and Plastic Grocery Bags Needed

If you have children's pants that are clean and in good condition and/or plastic grocery bags, they can be dropped off in our main office.  Thank you!
