Message from Mrs. Briggs

Dear Spring Hill families,

We hope to see you this evening at our 6th grade Basketball game vs. Churchill Road Elementary! The game starts at 6pm at Langley High School. Also, to show our support for all our military-connected families, we are inviting our school community to “Purple Up!” on Wednesday, April 9, for military children. Why purple? Purple symbolizes all branches of the military as a combination of Army green, Marine Corps red, and Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force and Space Force blue.

We also have a fun-filled week planned next week with Bingo night on Thursday, April 10th and our annual talent show on Friday April 11th.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Amy Briggs

Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism Acceptance Month. One in 44 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder in the United States, according to the CDC. Our schools and staff play a vital role in creating and ensuring inclusive environments that accommodate and affirm autistic students.

Important Safety Reminders

Our front Bus loop is designed for buses only. Please park in our front or side parking lot or Spring Hill Rec Center when dropping off/or picking up your child before or after school. As a reminder, cars should not be parked along our fire lanes at any time.

If your child is either walking to or from the Spring Hill Rec Center, please make sure they use all crosswalks. Everyone must use the crosswalk either in front of the building or to the left side of the building and should never cross directly in front of buses.

Thank you!

clock

School Hours

As a reminder, our school bell rings at 8:50am. If you are dropping off your child, please make sure it is prior to 8:50am. If you arrive after 8:50am, please plan to park your car and check your child in at the main office. Signs will be put out once staff members are no longer on duty. If the sign is out you will need to escort your child into the office. Thank you.

Attendance Matters!

This year, Spring Break is April 12th-April 20th. We are eager to welcome your children back in school on April 21st. Their attendance is very important. Teachers will be teaching, and students will be learning.

Studies have shown that just two absences per month can cause students to fall behind.  Let’s finish this school year strong. Visit our website for more attendance resources

Honoring our Veterans

Heart

Kids Heart Challenge

We are excited to let you know that we will be doing the KHC/AHA (Kid’s Heart Challenge/American Heart Association) again this year beginning on April 7th. This year it will be a weeklong event and we will do many fun activities throughout the week during their P.E. time.

Heart disease continues to be an issue and one of the best ways to help fight it, is by exercising and being active. Registration is free for the event and all students who register will receive a wristband. Both the Spring Hill P.E. Department and AHA encourage you to donate if you feel comfortable doing so. All donations will go towards fighting heart disease and help us purchase new P.E. equipment. The Spring Hill Community has always been supportive of this event/cause. We thank you very much for your support.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

FCPS News

Excellence Is at a Crossroads

Fairfax County residents believe in the value of a strong public school system. Residents live here because of the excellence of Fairfax County Public Schools, even our community members with grown children. Excellence in FCPS comes from its people — dedicated teachers and support staff who make sure that our students are ready to learn. Today, that excellence is at a crossroads.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will finalize the budget on Tuesday, May 6, and the current advertised budget underfunds FCPS by $150 million.

Now is the time. Do we want continued excellence, or are we ready to consider cuts to important programs that we have come to expect from FCPS?

Do you believe in the power and promise of public education? Go to fcps.edu/crossroads.

⏰ Share Your Thoughts on School Start TimesFCPS would like to hear from all families on the possibility of adjusting school start times across the division. Please check your email for a survey link from Fairfax County Public Schools. It was also sent to staff as well as to students in grades 5-12. The confidential survey will be open through Saturday, April 12.
