FCPS School Year Calendar Edison CalendarWiz
Dear Edison Families,
Happy Friday, Edison Community!
We're off to a fantastic start for the 4th quarter, and it's hard to believe that spring break is just around the corner! Next week is our last week before the break, and I think it's safe to say everyone is ready for some relaxation and recharge time.
Last night, I had the distinct honor of attending the JROTC Ball at the Crystal View. Our students did an outstanding job paying tribute to our armed services and showcasing their commitment to the JROTC program. It was truly inspiring.
April is the Month of the Military Child, and we proudly recognize and celebrate all of our students who serve alongside their parents. Their resilience and strength enrich our Edison community in countless ways.
Today we celebrate Librarian Appreciation Day, and I want to give a huge shout-out to Mrs. Mahan and Mrs. Burdett for their incredible dedication and support. They have created a warm and welcoming library environment where all students and staff feel valued and supported.
Next week is National Assistant Principal Week. Please take a moment to reach out and show your appreciation to your child's assistant principal. Their tireless efforts behind the scenes contribute greatly to our school's success.
Finally, don't miss out on the opportunity to see our spring musical, Grease! I'm excited to attend tonight and see the amazing talent on display.
Have a restful and enjoyable long weekend!
Mrs. Burke
L to R: Naomi, Camryn, Frances
Three of our Edison students placed as Finalists for the Youth Poet Ambassador for 2025, this is a new FCPS wide initiative this year!
This is such an exciting achievement for these students!
- Frances Ketchum – "Little Brown Birds"
- Camryn Gray – "I am Spring"
- Naomi Woldemeskle – "Conceiver of Our Flaws"
There will be an award ceremony at the end of May, and one of them could be named the Youth Poet Ambassador for 2025 at that ceremony!
Congratulations!
RSVP for coffee with Mrs. Burke!
 Spirit Week April 7-11
In recognition of the Month of the Military Child, the student ambassadors will be organizing a Spirit Week from April 7 to April 11. Fairfax County Public Schools is proud to serve over 13,000 military-connected students. Each April, we dedicate a week to honor their sacrifices and resilience. To celebrate, the ambassadors will host a gathering for all military-connected students on April 10th in the courtyard outside Sub School 1, after school. Invitations will be distributed to students.
Military-Connected Family Support
FCPS welcomes all of our new and returning military-connected families throughout the year! Whether your family is moving permanently to the school district or living here for a short time, our schools and support staff welcome you and will be able to assist with your transition into and/or out of our district.
Visit the FCPS Military Families webpage and sign up to receive the Military Families newsletter. Follow FCPS Military Families accounts on Facebook and Instagram for support and resources throughout the year. If you have any questions, please email the FCPS Family and School Partnerships team.
Third quarter report cards will be viewable in ParentVUE on Saturday, April 5 at 6 a.m. Students will receive hard copies of their report card in advisory on Tuesday, April 8. As a reminder you can select to Go Paperless following the steps below:
Here's how you can opt-in:
- Log into ParentVUE, click on "My Account," and select “Go Paperless.”
- All parents/guardians living with the student at the same address must have an active SIS ParentVUE account to opt-in.
- Once selected, the “Go Paperless” option will apply to all associated students, no matter their grade level.
- If you’ve already opted for paperless for your secondary students, it will automatically apply to any younger siblings at the elementary level too!
Edison's opening night of Grease was amazing!

“GREASE” is the word, April 3-5, when Edison Theatre presents the musical “Grease: School Edition” for four performances! With a “hopelessly devoted” cast of nearly 40 and a huge backstage crew, this show will take you back to the days of bobby socks, slicked back hair, hot-rod cars, and old-time rock and roll! Featuring popular songs from both the stage and movie version, this production is “the one that you want!”

Fairfax County residents believe in the value of a strong public school system. Residents live here because of the excellence of Fairfax County Public Schools, even our community members with grown children. Excellence in FCPS comes from its people — dedicated teachers and support staff who make sure that our students are ready to learn. Today, that excellence is at a crossroads.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will finalize the budget on Tuesday, May 6, and the current advertised budget underfunds FCPS by $150 million.
Now is the time. Do we want continued excellence, or are we ready to consider cuts to important programs that we have come to expect from FCPS?
