Dear Terraset Families,
As the weather turns warmer and summer begins to approach, we need your help to ensure all of our Tigers are present and engaged in learning all day, every day. As of today, our school’s chronic absenteeism rate is 13.5% and our goal is to be at 10% or lower in order to meet state accreditation measures. Let’s see how many of our Tigers can have perfect attendance in the 4th quarter!
Speaking of well-attended events, this past Friday we had so much fun coming together as a community for the 6th grade basketball challenge. Huge thanks to our 6th grade parent volunteer group, the Terraset PTO, and numerous staff members who helped make it happen. On Saturday, a select group of 6th graders participated in the 2025 6th grade all-county choral festival at Mount Vernon High School. Kudos to each of them for their amazing performance! Huge thanks to all of our families that joined us today for our Kindergarten Orientation event. If you were unable to attend, we can’t wait to welcome you and the presentation will be posted to the Terraset website this week.
Warmly,
Katie Aldridge, Principal
Dave Ickowski, Assistant Principal
⏰School Start Times Survey
Last year, FCPS held community forums and surveyed middle school families regarding middle school start times. Now, we would like to hear from all staff and families on the possibility of adjusting school start times across the division. The goal remains to begin middle school at 8 a.m. or later at the start of the 2026-27 school year.
Today, April 1, a survey link will be sent by email to staff, parents/caregivers, and students in grades 5-12. The confidential survey will be open for two weeks and will be available in multiple languages.
