PTA Meeting on Thursday!
Hello Fairhill Families
We hope this message finds you well!
First, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make Career Day such a meaningful and inspiring event for our students last week. From our incredible presenters to the volunteers who helped the day run smoothly, we are filled with gratitude. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about a wide variety of careers and dream big about their own futures!
On Friday, we planned to have our Annual Storybook Parade but since there is a 95% chance of rain that morning, we are moving it Wednesday, April 23rd at the same time. This is an outdoor event, and families are welcome to come stand and watch the parade from 9:30-11:00am!
We also want to remind you that our PTA meeting will take place this Thursday evening. We’ll kick things off with a Meet & Greet at 6:00 PM, followed by the meeting at 6:30 PM. We hope to see you there—your voice and partnership make a big difference in our school community.
As always, thank you for your continued support!
With gratitude,
Ted & Maura

Class Placement Family Input
We are working on our plans for the 2025-26 school year and will be collecting parent input electronically. Class placements are an essential component of learning and building community. If you have information that you would like us to consider as we determine placements, please take a few moments to answer the survey questions. Our teachers will work together to create classes built on the idea that students learn from each other’s strengths.
Please provide your input about the learning environment best suited for your child. Click HERE for the Fairhill Elementary 2025-2026 Kindergarten Parent Input Form and/or click HERE for Parent Input for Class Placements 2025-2026 so that the information can be processed before class building.
Please note that we do not take direct teacher requests. Instead, we ask that you describe the attributes that will support your child best. Completion of this form is optional however, the deadline to complete it is May 23.

Testing will begin promptly by 9:45 AM; if a student arrives after this time, they will take the test on an alternate date. If you have additional questions about the SOLs, please contact School Testing Coordinators Justin Goldberg (jmgoldberg@fcps.edu) and Maura Cotter (mkcotter@fcps.edu).

Month of the Military Child
April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to honor and celebrate the resilience, courage, and contributions of FCPS military-connected children.
To show our support, FCPS and Fairhill will celebrate Purple Up! Day on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. On this day, school staff and students are encouraged to wear purple, symbolizing unity and support for military families across all service branches.
Celebrating the Month of the Military Child provides a powerful opportunity to raise awareness and build support to help these children meet the unique challenges they face! It is an opportunity to recognize and thank military children and youth for their heroism, character, courage, sacrifices, and continued resilience.
Order your FCPS Purple Up! t-shirt and/or hoodie by March 7th using this Custom Ink link.
Let’s celebrate our military kids on April 9th and make FCPS purple!
Thank you for continuing to support our military-connected kids.

CALLING FOR VOLUNTEERS: HELP TO MAKE BIG DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY
The Fairhill PTA again will continue to support Fairhill families and our broader local community by collecting unused food purchased from the cafeteria (e.g., milk, string cheese) and/or unopened store bought food (e.g., crackers) during the spring semester
Our kids' role -> Kids are asked to leave food they may otherwise toss in the garbage and instead put it off in the Food for Others fridge in the cafeteria.
Our volunteers' role -> Once a week (Mondays or Tuesdays), we are asking for a volunteer to collect the food and drop it off at Food For Others (1 mile away).
Our collective Impact -> In addition to minimizing food waste, we are helping 75,000 Fairfax County (and Fairhill families) who are food insecure. On a weekly basis last year, we collected hundreds of milk cartons, string cheese packets, crackers, yoghurts and more.
