Dear Wolftrap Families,
As we transition into the final quarter of the school year, we are filled with immense pride and excitement. On Friday, our students engaged in end-of-quarter POG Presentation of Learning activities, and the results continue to be remarkable. You may remember that each grade level focuses on a specific Portrait of a Graduate skill, and this day provided a platform for students to thoughtfully review their classroom work and select pieces for their portfolios.
From our kindergarteners, who shared their ideas through drawings and writing, to our sixth graders, who demonstrated their ability to utilize feedback for improvement, the level of conversation and self-assessment was inspiring. What truly stood out was the inclusive nature of these reflections. Every student, regardless of their starting point or current level, was able to identify their progress and celebrate their achievements. This process is about recognizing individual journeys and fostering a sense of accomplishment in every learner.

This work is not just about the present, but it's about preparing our students for the challenges and opportunities of middle school, high school, and beyond. These reflections are building essential skills that will serve them well in all aspects of their lives. Ms. Tipton and I are incredibly proud of our students and their dedication to growth. Let's continue to support them as they embark on this final quarter, building upon the strong foundation they've established.
Best,
Dr. Maggie Grove, Principal
Ms. Megan Tipton, Assistant Principal

For those of you who do not know, our staffing depends on our enrollment. That is why it is important for us to make sure all students who desire to attend Wolftrap register early! Kindergarten registration is open now! Spread the word, especially if you have families in your neighborhood! There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten. After the appointment at the school (the student and one guardian must be present), the student will be ready for our spring orientation! Read more about the registration process. For additional information, please contact Ms. Caroline Kamel, school registrar.
Last year, FCPS held community forums and surveyed middle school families regarding middle school start times. Now, we would like to hear from all staff and families on the possibility of adjusting school start times across the division. The goal remains to begin middle school at 8 a.m. or later at the start of the 2026-27 school year. On April 1, a survey link will be sent by email to staff, parents/caregivers, and students in grades 5-12. The confidential survey will be open for two weeks and will be available in multiple languages.
In case you missed it in FCPS This Week, the school division shared updates on the following topics and others:
- School Start Times Survey
- Science Fair Winners
- FCPS Summer Extravaganza
