Hello BMP families! Last month was filled with exciting musical opportunities for our students. BMP students celebrated "Music in Our Schools Month" by guessing different staff members' favorite songs through the morning news show. Our 2nd graders had an absolutely fabulous time putting on their musical, "Goin' Buggy."
With a new quarter comes many new "unlocked" musical components for all students as they prepare to rise to the next grade level. These "unlocked" skills range from new words used to describe music to new rhythms and pitches. Our 3rd graders have been tirelessly working on learning their recorders and can't wait to showcase their skills at the end of the month! 3rd and 4th graders will participate in an "instrument petting zoo" to try out band and string instruments this month to help make their elective decisions for next year. Our 4th graders are looking forward to their field trip to the Kennedy Center this month to see the National Symphony Orchestra with other 4th graders in the county!
We are looking forward to our final performances of the year with the 3rd Grade Recorder Showcase on Wednesday, April 30th at 3:00 PM and the Band, Strings, and Chorus Spring Concert on Thursday, June 5th at 7:00 PM.
March is National Reading Month, and we want to celebrate in a big way by helping our school/PTA raise funds! You can help by:
1. REGISTER YOUR STUDENT - Every student that is registered enters their class for a chance to win free breakfast! Registering is completely free. Go to http://getmovinfundhub.com/ to register or re-register and complete their website by uploading a picture of your child. School identifier is 654425910e331
2. DONATE - If you would like to, make an online donation.
3. SHARE - Share your child’s page with family, friends, and on social media.
Our school goal is to raise $5,000 which will go towards fun events at the school for our students and our teachers, classrooms, field trips, and upgrades we can help with during our school’s renovation.
Additionally, the class that raises the most money will get to choose a lunch, an extra recess, an ice cream party, or an extra “whatever you want” PE class.
Thank you for your continued support of our school, your student, and commitment to the success of our school and community!

Bren Mar Park staff remind our families to help with creating a safe environment and being courteous in our local neighborhood, especially during arrival and dismissal times. Traffic during these times can be unsafe for pedestrian traffic or prevent families from leaving or arriving to their homes.
As a community, please remember and honor the Bren Mar Park requests:
- Use Kiss & Ride: Families who drive their children to school should utilize the Kiss & Ride process. This helps to minimize congestion and ensures a safer drop-off experience for all. Please follow the designated Kiss & Ride procedures to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
- Walking to School: For those families who walk their children to and from school, please be sure to follow any guidance or direction provided by our staff members. Their instructions are designed to keep everyone safe during arrival and dismissal times. Cars should not be parked in the local neighborhood and children then walk onto the school campus.
- Follow all Traffic Laws and Guidance: Families who choose to drive a car to the school building are expected to follow all traffic safety laws in support of a safe local community, especially during arrival and dismissal. Such laws include:
- Park in legal spaces; do not park in front of driveways, within 15 feet of an intersection or in a fire lane
- Drive forward; do not complete a U-turn on Beryl Road
- Be aware of and follow traffic safety staff directions
We thank you for your support and collaboration in helping us to make Bren Mar Park a safe and welcoming place for everyone!

With an updated building comes an updated mustangs mascot!
We're galloping into a new era with a brand-spanking-new logo that's bursting with school spirit! Forget boring, we've lassoed a design that's pure mustang magic. And the reviews are in! One student exclaimed, "It's cool! This one is more realistic. You get a better picture of the mustang!" Another chimed in, "I like this new logo better than the old one. It's more detailed and the color is better. It fits more with our school!" We're absolutely head-over-hooves in love, and we're betting you will be too. Let this wild new logo kickstart a stampede of pride and unity across our students, staff, and families! Kickoff officially begins on April 1, 2025.
It is clear that construction has started up! The new, temporary playground is now completed and being enjoyed by our students. Our old playground and blacktop areas has now been fenced off, the old equipment removed, and the blacktop is now being removed. In preparation for construction of the new, 2-story building, all windows at the back of the school have been covered.
The full renovation project is expected to be completed in August 2027. For more information, please visit https://www.fcps.edu/bren-mar-park-elementary-capital-project

Hi! This is my sixth year at BMP in first grade.
I was born in Queens, NY and grew up in Northern Virginia. I went to school in FCPS and graduated from GMU.
In my free time, I like spending time with my dog Benji, shopping, binge watching shows, trying new restaurants, playing games, and doing puzzles.
