Message from Dr. Khoshaba
Hello SoCo Families,
As the saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers," and here at South County, we’re embracing this season of growth and renewal! With the final quarter in full swing, it's the perfect time for our students to dig deep, stay focused, and blossom into their full potential. Whether it’s in the classroom, on the stage, or on the field, we’re proud of all the ways our Stallions continue to shine.
Student and Staff Belonging
Gearing Up for Greatness!
Best wishes to our talented Auto Tech students who are heading to Roanoke, VA this weekend to compete in their State Competition! Under the expert guidance of their teacher, Mr. Michael Strausser, these students have been fine-tuning their skills all year long. Just like a well-tuned engine, success comes from precision, preparation, and persistence—and our students have been putting in the work under the hood every day. We know they’ll bring the same drive and determination to this competition as they do in the shop. May their hard work keep them firing on all cylinders and take them across the finish line with pride!
Girls Lacrosse
Congratulations on a great game Friday night to our JV and Varsity Girls Lacrosse teams for strong showings! Their teamwork, grit, and determination have truly stuck with us—just like a perfect pass in the crease. Keep cradling those wins and pushing forward, Stallions!
A special shout-out to Carys Behan for scoring the first two goals for our us on the JV team.
Baseball
Shoutout to our Stallion Baseball team for continuing to knock it out of the park this week! Whether it’s strong defense or clutch hits, they showed what it means to play with heart and hustle. We’re batting a thousand when it comes to being proud of your effort and sportsmanship!
Softball
Way to go, Softball team, for an incredible game filled with hustle, heart, and some serious heat from the mound! You’ve pitched in every bit of effort and showed what it means to compete with class. A special shout out to Ava for earning her 100th hit to add to her 100 rbi’s, and 100 runs. When asked how she felt immediately after returning to the dugout, Ava said, “I’m proud to be a Stallion!” What a class act! Way to play hard, Stallions!
High Quality Instruction
Serving Up Fun in PE!
I had an ace of a time joining Mr. Mallisham’s PE 9 class for some friendly ping pong action! It was a blast going one-on-one with Theodossios and Soleil—those rallies were no joke! Things got even more exciting in a two-on-two matchup where I teamed up with Lauren to take on Ava and Piper (and let me just say, Piper’s spikes were completely uncalled for—she got me at least three times!). But the true highlight? Facing off against Salim, who handed me a humbling defeat with style and speed. He assured me that his skills are nothing compared to his dad’s... which is honestly hard to believe! Either way, I had a ball—thanks to all the students for letting me join the fun!
School Culture
Honoring Muslim and Arab American Heritages April marks Muslim and Arab American Heritage Month—a time to recognize that the stories, contributions, and experiences of Muslim and Arab Americans are an essential part of U.S. history. While the celebration happens this month, the learning should continue all year long. Valuable instructional resources are made available for our social studies educators, supporting both classroom instruction and professional development.
Honoring the Strength of Military Students:
April is a busy time, as it is also the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognize and celebrate the resilience, bravery, and adaptability of children in military families. These young people face unique challenges as they move, adjust to new schools, and cope with deployments, yet they do so with remarkable strength and grace. This month offers a chance to honor their sacrifices and contributions to their families and communities, while supporting their well-being and growth.

Running for a Cause: Supporting Mental Health Awareness Several of our Stallions proudly participated in the 5K event to raise awareness for the It’s Ok to Not Be Ok mental health organization, demonstrating their commitment to mental health advocacy. A huge shoutout to our Superintendent Dr. Reid, Annie, Gabby, Assistant Principal Mrs. Tolan, and everyone else who joined in, showing their support for this incredibly important cause. By running, walking, and raising their voices, they’ve helped shine a light on the importance of mental well-being and the need for ongoing conversations about mental health.
 |
Lunchtime Locations: Staying on Track and Staying Safe During lunch, students are expected to be in one of three designated areas: the cafeteria, the library (with a pass), or with prior permission from a teacher to eat in their classroom. These guidelines ensure students have a safe and productive environment to enjoy their break while maintaining school order. Starting this month, students who are found in the halls without permission will face consequences, as it’s important that they are where they are supposed to be for their own well-being and to prevent disruptions to classes that are in session.
I hope everyone has a restful weekend!

Spring Concession Stand Sign Up
Spring Sports are underway and we NEED your help! In order for us to keep our concession stand up and running we need volunteers to assist us on game nights. The revenue generated through concession serves as the SCHS Athletic Booster Club's primary source of funding. The money earned goes right back to the sports teams to cover the costs of equipment, uniforms, and more! Any family can volunteer! You do not need to have a student participating in Sports to make an impact! Visit the link below or the QR code and consider helping us out one night! Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
