The Wildcat Weekly - March 31, 2025

Centreville Students, Families, and Community,

Last week, we gathered during International Night to celebrate the rich diversity that makes our school and community so special. At Centreville High School, one of our core values is building a positive school climate where every student feels a sense of belonging and pride in their heritage. International Night is a perfect example of how we can honor and celebrate the unique backgrounds that make our community thrive. It’s about creating an inclusive environment where all of us—students, families, and staff—can learn from one another and grow together.

I would like to encourage students, parents, and guardians to attend the PTSA Meeting next Tuesday, April 8 at 7:00PM in the CVHS Library. This meeting will be focused specifically on the All Night Grad Party to ensure the Class of 2025 has an opportunity to celebrate together. We will be looking for volunteers to support this long standing tradition. If you are not a member of the CVHS PTSA, learn more about membership, donations, and information from previous meetings here.

Looking ahead, shortly after spring break we will be conducting both end of year SOL testing and Advanced Placement (AP) testing. Our SOL testing will take place intermittently from April 29 - May 29, while our AP testing will be from May 5-16. Given the space needs for testing, and to reduce the strain on specific classes, we will need to adjust our period schedule slightly on May 1st, 2nd, and 15th. We will send more information as we get closer to the testing date.

Thank you and Go Wildcats!

Colorguard

April 3 - Winter Colorguard Open Spin: The Wildcat Colorguard is hosting an open spin clinic at Centreville High School on THURSDAY, APRIL 3 at 3:00PM for any and all interested students. What is Colorguard? Colorguard is a non-musical section within the marching band that enhances the visual aspects of the performance through choreographed dances and routines with flags, rifles, sabers, and other equipment.

Are you looking to join a group that’s fun to be part of AND gets to perform at every home varsity football game? Join the CVHS  Wildcat Colorguard! No prior experience needed to join – we will teach you everything you need to know! We especially love working with musicians in choir and orchestra, theatre students and students with dance experience. If that is YOU, please consider checking out the open spin clinic on THURSDAY, APRIL 3 after school in the cafeteria.

The Colorguard is part of the Centreville High School Wildcat Marching Band. You will be part of an amazing group that wants YOU! If you have any questions, please contact centrevillewildcatguard@gmail.com. April 4-6 - Prom Dress Shop Open at CVHS: Students from Centreville High School and the Fair Oaks Classroom on the Mall program will open their annual Prom Dress Shop, which aims to help economically challenged students celebrate in style. The shop, which operates out of Centreville High School in Clifton, Va., has helped hundreds of students attend prom each spring by providing prom dresses and accessories at no cost to students. Any area student, not just those from Fairfax County Public Schools, who does not have the funds to purchase a prom dress may choose from hundreds of dresses donated by Macy’s and community members. The Prom Dress Shop is located in the modular classroom building near the stadium, in the student parking lot of Centreville High School, outside of door 12. The shop will be open April 4 from 5:00-8:00PM, April 5 from 2:00-5:00PM, and April 6 from 1:00-4:00PM.

April 7-11 - Wellness Week: We are through three quarters of the school year and AP and SOL testing is fast approaching. To reduce stress, our Student Government Association is sponsoring Wellness Week for all students. Each day of the week there will be different activities and treats for students to support mental and emotional health. From therapy dogs, to free treats during lunch, and choice activities, students will be provided several opportunities to reduce their stress prior to spring break and the testing season.

April 8 - PTSA Meeting: Please join us for the monthly PTSA meeting on Tuesday, April 8 at 7:00 PM in the Centreville High School Library. We invite you to join the Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA) to help foster a positive and inclusive school climate. By working together we can build stronger connections that support our students' growth and success. Collaboration between teachers, parents, and students is key to creating an environment where everyone thrives. Your involvement in PTSA is an opportunity to strengthen relationships and make a lasting impact on our school community. If you are not a member of the CVHS PTSA, learn more about membership, donations, and information from previous meetings here.

PurpleUp

April 9 - Purple Up for Military Families: Purple Up for Military Families is a nationwide initiative dedicated to honoring and supporting military children. Celebrated every April during the Month of the Military Child, Purple Up encourages people to wear purple on Wednesday, April 9 as a visible show of solidarity. The color purple symbolizes the blending of all branches of the military—Army green, Navy blue, Air Force blue, Marine Corps red, and Coast Guard blue. It’s a simple but powerful way for communities to show appreciation for the sacrifices military families make.

Wonderful Wildcats

BoysState

Centreville Students Selected for Boys State: Congratulations to Sankalp Agarwal, Kareem Aly, and Alessandro De Stefano for their selection to the prestigious Virginia Boys State program! Virginia Boys State is a leadership action program, designed to develop a working knowledge of the structure of government. Boys State is among the most respected educational programs of government instruction for high school students. At Boys State, participants are exposed to the rights and privileges, the duties and the responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective and practical with city, county and state governments operated by the students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, chorus and recreational programs. Sankalp, Kareem, and Alessandro will be traveling to Radford University from 6/21 - 6/25.  We are very proud to have them represent CVHS!

Pyramid Band

Centreville Pyramid Band Concert: The Centreville pyramid Elementary Honor Band, the Liberty Middle School Band, and CVHS Wind Ensemble performed together last week in a celebration of music across our pyramid! It was an incredible performance and evidence of the strong music instruction we have in the Centreville pyramid! We look forward to the future Wildcats joining our band in the coming years!
