Dear Beech Tree Families,
We have had a great week of learning, and it has been wonderful to see the students engaged in their classrooms.
A special highlight was our art show, which displayed the creativity and hard work of our students. Thank you to our art teacher, Mr. Skrtic, for making it all possible.
Please note that on Monday, April 21, 2025, we will have a 3-hour early release at 1:00 PM. To assist us in finalizing our plans, please complete the early release form for each of your children at Beech Tree by Friday, April 4th. A response is required for every student. Dear Beech Tree Families,
On Monday, March 24, you will receive an email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and provides an opportunity for you to share anonymous feedback on key aspects of our school, including:
- Instructional leadership
- School climate
- Management (human resources and organizational)
- Communication and community relations
- Culturally responsive and equitable leadership
- Professionalism
The questionnaire will be open March 24 – April 4 and will be collected online. When you receive an email from FCPSSurvey@fcps.edu, please take a few minutes to complete it. Your feedback is important and helps shape the future of our school. Thank you for your time and participation.

Spring Picture Day - Monday, April 7
Victor O'Neill will be taking Spring Pictures on Monday, March 24, 2025. They will be taking class photos as well as individual photos. You will be able to view and order your child’s photos in their online gallery approximately ten days after picture day. If you have any questions leading up to picture day, please reach out to Victor O’Neill Studios by emailing underclass@vosphoto.com.

Family Field Trip Saturday, April 26th
Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture
We will take two groups on this outing.
Group 1 will depart the school at 9:30am.
Group 2 will depart the school 12:30pm.
Entry passes are limited. Reservation tickets will be required and obtained through the school. Additional information will be provided soon.

Beech Tree Elementary’s Kindergarten Orientation for rising Kindergarteners is right around the corner. Our Kindergarten Orientation will be on April 1st from 3:00 p.m.-4:00p.m. Incoming kindergarten students and families will get to experience "A Day in the Life of a Kindergartener" while receiving a tour of Beech Tree. We can't wait to meet our incoming kindergarteners and our newest Beaver families!
We recognize that parents are their children’s first teachers. Explore the resources on FCPS’ School Readiness and Transition to Kindergarten webpage for ways to help ensure your child starts kindergarten with confidence.
Last year, FCPS held community forums and surveyed middle school families regarding middle school start times. Now, we would like to hear from all staff and families on the possibility of adjusting school start times across the division. The goal remains to begin middle school at 8 a.m. or later at the start of the 2026-27 school year.
On April 1, a survey link will be sent by email to staff, parents/caregivers, and students in grades 5-12. The confidential survey will be open for two weeks and will be available in multiple languages.
Discover summer learning and activities available in Fairfax County!
Attend the FCPS Summer Extravaganza on Saturday, May 10, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at Woodson High School and get a jump on summer learning. At this free event, participants can engage in educational and enrichment activities designed to inspire curiosity and growth.
Activities will include student performances, story time, a moon bounce, and face painting. For more information, visit the Summer Extravaganza webpage.
Students in Grades 3-5 will begin SOL Testing on May 6th. Students in Third Grade will take the Grade 3 Reading and Math SOL Tests. Fourth Grade students will take the Grade 4 Reading and Math Tests. Our Fifth Grade Students will take the Grade 5 Reading, Math, and Science Tests. Our students and teachers have been working very hard, and we know they are going to do well!
The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for families, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees at Beech Tree Elementary School. We love our staff members; let's tell them how we feel!

On behalf of the PTA, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in, donated to or volunteered at this year’s Fun Fair! Your generosity and enthusiasm helped make the event a success, bringing joy to our students and strengthening our school community. Whether you contributed an item, gave your time or joined us for the fun, we truly appreciate your support.
We also have another exciting event coming up: Save the Date for our Spring Fling Dance! Join us on Thursday, April 10, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm for a fun-filled evening of music, dancing and community spirit. More details to come soon!
