Career Day – We Need You!
We are still seeking volunteers for our upcoming Career Day on Friday, April 25, 2025. Our school community is filled with talented and accomplished professionals, and we would love for you to share your expertise with our students. Serving as a Career Day speaker is a wonderful opportunity to inspire and educate our future leaders. Your insights and experiences can make a lasting impact!
If you’re interested, please register here. For more information, feel free to contact our school counselor, Lea Fadden, at LTfadden@fcps.edu. Thank you for your support! We look forward to an engaging and enriching Career Day!
Important Dates to Remember:
📌 3rd Quarter Honor Roll Celebration – Friday, April 11, 2025
📌 Spring Break – April 14–18, 2025 - Please plan accordingly. School office will be closed.
Dress Code Reminder: We have noticed an increase in students wearing du-rags. While we allowed some flexibility during the colder months, as the weather warms up, du-rags will not be permitted. We appreciate your support in reinforcing this expectation.
Finally, our 8th graders will be taking the Integrated Reading and Writing (IRW), a critical writing assessment, on Thursday, April 3rd. Parents, your support is essential in ensuring your child is well-prepared. Please make sure they get a good night’s rest and bring their fully charged, school-issued laptop. Spring assessments play a key role in our school's evaluation, and we appreciate your partnership in setting our students up for success!
As always, thank you for your partnership and continued support!
Take care,
Principal Mizell
End of the 3rd Quarter and ParentVUE Access
Friday, March 28 is the last day of the 3rd quarter. SIS StudentVue and ParentVue gradebook will not be available from Friday, March 28 at 4:00 pm through Monday, April 7 at 6:00 am. Our 3rd quarter Honor Roll will take place on Friday, April 11 and invites will be sent out on Monday, April 7.
Spring Track will begin the first week of April!
Students and parents will need to complete several steps prior to participating in Spring Track, including:
A completed FCPS Middle School Sports Athletic Participation/Parental Consent/Physical Examination Form (PPE). The exam must be completed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant per school year. Please note that the form must be dated on or after May 1, 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year. Form must be submitted to the Main Office in care of Mr. Glenn.
Each student-athlete and a parent/guardian will complete a registration process that includes the state-mandated concussion education program and Emergency Care Card information before the student participates in middle school sports. Form must be submitted to the Main Office in care of Mr. Glenn
Student-athletes in FCPS are required to be covered by medical insurance. If your student is not covered by another plan, parents may want to consider if purchasing voluntary student insurance is right for their family.
Each student-athlete and a parent/guardian will review the FCPS Middle School Sports Athletic Health Education Program prior to the student’s participation in middle school athletic activities. (Note: the document does not meet FCPS web accessibility standards at this time. If you need help interpreting this content, please contact us and we will aim to respond within 2 business days. Email: FCPSSAAP@fcps.edu or Phone: 571-423-1260.)
A parent/guardian will complete a Spring's Track & Field registration form (regardless of whether you participated in Fall Cross Country or not): FCPS Track and Field Registration Form
Health and PE: Family Life Education (FLE)
The Health and PE team will be teaching the Human Growth and Development portion of the Family Life Education (FLE) curriculum at the beginning of the 4th quarter. The 7th graders will be taught the lessons April 2nd through April 7th, while the 8th graders will be taught the lessons April 8th through April 11th.
For these lessons, students are separated into male instruction and female instruction but will be taught the same content. Students can be opted out of these lessons online through the Parent Consent page. If a student is opted out of any or all the lessons, they will be given an alternative self-paced lesson to go through in a different location. Please communicate with your child’s Health and PE teacher if you have any questions or go to the following link to find more information about the lesson content, opting your child out of the lessons, or any other information you may need.
