Fairfax County Schools are on Spring Break April 14 - April 18, 2025.
The Woodley Hills Family is proud to celebrate Assistant Principals Week! We are incredibly grateful to Mr. Davis for his selfless service to our community. His leadership is marked by a continual focus on the development of the whole child, emphasizing academic excellence, support for extracurricular activities, and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive school environment. His commitment to the betterment of the entire community is truly inspiring. Thank you, Mr. Davis, for making a difference in the lives of our students and families every day!
We would like to thank Ms. Kai Diez-Fugitt and Dr. Kenneth Dickerson for their expertise in music, as well as, ensuring that our students learn and enjoy the beauty of music through sound and song. Below are highlights of why they are wonderful.
 |
I became a music teacher because I wanted to inspire my students the same way the music educators in Prince William County inspired me growing up! Music was a huge part of where I found safety and community in middle and high school. I wanted to further create spaces where students and learners can feel a sense of belonging that helps them explore what music means to them. I knew I wanted to be a music educator when I was 14 years old! Mr. Ballas at Gainesville Middle School and Mr. Agee at Brentsville District High School along with my countless professors and ensemble leaders at James Madison University inspired me to be the music educator that I am today! Some of my favorite musical memories are high school and college marching band, playing at a barn mural painting, playing at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (2018), playing at the 2019 FCS National Championships in Frisco, TX (2020), playing in steel drum bands and jazz bands, playing in the pit of SpongeBob the Musical (2024), and performing with all my students!

My mottos: The Most Powerful Force in the Universe is Love! The Second Most Powerful Force in the Universe is Music!!! How can I help?
I joined Woodley Hills Elementary School following a career as a highly qualified Senior Administrator and Music Educator with more than 32 years of experience. Devoted to student success through the effective management of faculty and financial resources, as well as the implementation of student-centered practices. Bringing a multi-award winning career as an educator, showcasing a drive to continuously improve and commitment to promoting a multicultural and accepting diverse learning environment. Throughout my career of serving DCPS in the capacities of Assistant Principal, Dean of Students and Band Director, I was always recognized as an administrator, educator and mentor who demonstrated noteworthy strategic leadership, exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to build bridges where they didn’t exist. In addition, my work has consistently reflected a penchant for creativity and innovation. As a devoted educator, I never lost sight of the fact that participating in music saved me from a life in the mean streets of Washington DC and I have relied on the same formula to influence the lives of thousands of students under my tutelage. Through music, I not only helped them to develop an appreciation for the arts, but also helped them understand the universality of music and its powerful impact on so many facets of our existence. Ultimately, my mentoring, coaching and guidance - which honed in on positivity, preparation, discipline, diligence, accountability, teamwork, and camaraderie - were designed to prepare my students for success in ANY field.
I hold a Doctorate in Human Development and Organizational Learning from The George Washington University. My dissertation: Enacting Organizational Improvisation as Shared Leadership: A Case Study of Human Relationships Emerging in the Moment.
With a Song!
Dr. D
