Scholarship Winner
Wednesday, March 19th Herndon held it's first College/Post-Secondary Night for sophomore and junior students and families. Jason Puryear of ECMC The College Place and Lauren McGregor of George Mason University presented on: Why education beyond high school is important, Options for after high school, Benefits of further education, Costs of different options, Choosing, researching, comparing your options, Paying for college or post-secondary education (FAFSA and Scholarships), Getting organized. For attending the event, Merly Guzman Argumedo won a $1000 scholarship toward her post-secondary plans. Congratulations Merly!
Plating Desserts in Nutrition & Wellness
Students in Nutrition and Wellness learned the importance of plating food and how it plays a major role in enjoying the food we eat. They explored basic techniques for plating food as well.
Herndon Art Teacher Featured
In a recent interview with the Visual Art Journal, Rebecca Ogun, Herndon High School Art Teacher, discusses how her grandmother's oil paintings and family traditions in fiber arts ignited her passion for art. Her work often features vibrant floral still lifes, symbolizing cherished memories and the transient beauty of life. Ogun's use of diverse mediums—such as watercolor, oil, and colored pencils—allows her to explore various textures and fluidity, enhancing the natural beauty of her subjects. As a high school art teacher, she balances her professional art career with her role as an educator, drawing inspiration from her students' creativity.
