Congratulations to the Twain Music Program!
Each year our music programs perform for the Virginia State Band, Orchestra, and Choir Assessments. These assessments are a cornerstone of the curriculum and serve as an opportunity to receive outside feedback about the quality of music and level of music literacy our students are achieving. ALL GROUPS for Twain (Orchestra, Choir, and Band) received Superior Ratings!
We are excited to announce that Mark Twain Middle School will be awarded the Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence in Music! Additionally, this year, VBODA (Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association) has implemented a new accolade, The Program of Distinction Award, to reward instrumental programs that have achieved Superior Ratings on Assessment with all groups that participated, participation in All-District events, and high marks and participation in Solo and Ensemble Events. This year, for the first time ever, the Mark Twain Band and Orchestra will be awarded the Program of Distinction award!
Thank you, Mr. Garfield-Levine, Mr. Kluttz, Ms. Tolpa, our music students, and our music families for the dedication, time and talent it takes to earn such prestigious honors! Go Tigers!
