Important Information

Dear Stone Families,

I want to take a moment to address a concern that some students may have shared with you today regarding restroom access during class time. Over the past few weeks, we have seen an increase in negative behaviors occurring in the school bathrooms, including vandalism, improper use of the facilities, fighting, vaping, and students using the restrooms primarily to access their cell phones. These behaviors not only disrupt the learning environment but also pose safety concerns for all students.

At Stone Middle School, our top priority is ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all learners.  In the past, we have closed several bathrooms due to the vandalism and destruction. To address the most recent concerns, we are implementing a temporary measure for the next week. During this time, students will be encouraged to use the restrooms during their five-minute transition periods between classes. Restrooms are available in each locker pod and the main lobby for student use.

During class time, students will be expected to remain in class, with bathroom passes issued only for emergencies or medical accommodations. Please rest assured that students with clinic needs will continue to have access to the nurse’s office.

Our goal is to identify and address the negative behaviors while maintaining a safe and structured learning environment for all students. We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations with your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your partnership in fostering a positive school environment.

Sincerely,

Sonya Williams

Principal
