As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the safety of walking and biking routes, as well as Kiss & Ride areas, our school administrators will be conducting an annual traffic and pedestrian safety assessment.
FCPS values community and parent involvement in initiatives like this, and your input is essential in shaping improvements that directly impact our students’ safety. We kindly ask you to complete a short survey to share your concerns and feedback on this important initiative.

🗓️ Calendar Reminders: Quarter End, Eid al-Fitr, and Teacher Workday
Friday, March 28, is the last day of the third quarter. It is a full day of school.
All FCPS schools and offices are closed on Monday, March 31, for Eid al-Fitr. Tuesday, April 1, is a student holiday and teacher workday. See the complete school year calendar or the employee calendar.
 On Tuesday, March 18th, several students from our Bush Hill Band Program participated in the Greater Springfield-Franconia Area Band Concert. These students met at Key Middle School for eight weeks to learn challenging music with students from the Thomas Edison and John Lewis High School Pyramid elementary schools. The student showed tremendous skill, determination, teamwork, and effort in a performance that was played in front of not only their families, but two school board members and Dr. Reid herself. Here are the students who performed: Ezel, Bradley, Rossen, Archer, Griffin, Ryan, Reagan, Charlotte, William, Katherine, Kieran, Omer, Landon, Ali, Bailey, Violet, Muhammad, Anjali, John, and Feven.

Read-A-Thon
BHES students you did it! We reached our $10,000 goal with an epic amount of pages read by all the students who participated. What a great way to wrap up Read Across America month. Thank you all for your hard work and donations! Classes who were top earners and readers will be announced next week…stay tuned!
Staff Appreciation Week is fast approaching, and we’re excited to celebrate the incredible contributions of our hardworking teachers and staff. To make this week extra special, we’re looking for volunteers to lend a hand. Whether you have a lot of time or just a little, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved.

Kids Business Fair @ BHES
Bush Hill Elementary School is having their first Children's Business Fair on Saturday May 17th from 1-3pm in the school gym. The business fair will be a fun-filled event that allows young entrepreneurs to show off their businesses in the live marketplace. The kids have a real-world opportunity to showcase their products and interact with consumers in the community. SAVE the DATE PANTHERS: National Walk/Bike to School Day will be here SOON!
The big day is Wednesday May 7th. Be sure to put on your walking shoes and bike helmets and get out and walk/bike to school. We cannot wait to see all the walking and biking Panthers.
If you are Biking be sure to wear a helmet! Hopefully the Kiss & Ride Line will be a lot shorter!!
Look for information a “Bike Train” where bikers can meet up beforehand and all Bike together.
Many Jurisdictions in Northern Virginia require the use of bicycle helmets. Fairfax County is one of them. Fairfax County Code Section 82-6-38.1 defines the use of a protective helmet while operating a Bicycle: Any person under the age of fifteen years of age shall wear a protective helmet that meets the standards promulgated by the American National Standards Institute or the Snell Memorial Foundation while riding or being carried on a bicycle on any highway, sidewalk, or public bicycle path.
 To allow more Bush Hill families the chance to attend and participate, the date of our Culture*Community*Connections Night has been changed to Thursday, May 8. If you are able to share a bit of your culture with our community, please complete this form. We look forward to seeing on May 8th!
Community Conversations With Superintendent Dr. Reid
Your voice matters, and Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid wants to hear from you! A series of Community Conversations is being held across the school division. These events are an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and ask questions regarding FCPS. Events are planned for the following dates from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.:

Next Steps in the Budget Process
The next steps in the FCPS Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Budget process include:
- The School Board presents the budget to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, April 22.
- The Board of Supervisors will conduct public hearings Tuesday, April 22, through Thursday, April 24. Community members can submit testimony or sign up to speak.
Visit the county government website to view the Fairfax County FY 2026 Advertised Budget. The community is also invited to complete an online survey to provide feedback on the county’s FY 2026 Advertised Budget.
