KJMS MathCounts Team Wins Top Placements at Chapter Competition, Advances to State

Math counts

KJMS MathCounts team secured impressive results at the Fairfax Chapter Competition on February 1st, with students earning both first and second place individual awards. Nicolaus Maloney, Ameya Rajeev, Garidkhuu Batkhuu, and Lucas Liu placed second overall in the team competition, qualifying them for the upcoming State Tournament.

Congratulations to KJMS MathCounts team members, Mrs. Hyun, Dr. Gosavi and all the KJMS Math families!


KJMS QuizBowl

KJMS Quiz Bowl Team competed in the 2025 Washington DC History Bowl Championships this past Saturday. 

Sauren, Josie, Luke, Veer, Lila G., Ameya, Enrico, Elliot and Ehren competed and both teams qualified for Nationals in Orlando, Florida in May!

Sauren, Lila G, Ehren and Elliot came in first place for the middle school history bowl!

Luke won the individual title for the  Middle School History Bee and Sauren made the finals for the High School JV History Bee!

Appian Board Games Club

KJMS Appian Board Games Club traveled to Langston Hughes for the second Appian Board Games Competition of the Year.

24 students from across the county came together to play the strategic board game, Carcassonne.  Declan and Ben both made the tournament finals and shared first place!  Congrats to the KJMS Appian Board Games Club!

KJMS Spring Track & Field Registration

Dear KJMS Families,

Exciting News! KJMS is gearing up for the 2025 Track and Field season. All students, whether beginners or experienced, are welcome to join! Explore events like the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, long jump, and shot put. New this season 4X400m reply. We practice twice a week (2:30pm – 4:20pm) at KJMS with Saturday morning competitions at local high schools. Be part of history and stay tuned for our parent/student interest meeting in February.

 

Please note that several steps must be completed before students can participate in ANY activities. (Practice and Meets)

 

1st Practice

April 2nd 2:30pm - 4:20pm

Practices take place on Mondays and Wednesday after-school

 

Tentative Meet Schedule (7:30am – 3pm)

April 26 @ Madison HS

May 3rd @ Woodson HS

May 10th @Marshall HS

May 17 @ West Springfield HS

May 31st @Robinson HS Champion Meet
